It has been a while sice I did anything to my car since money has been a little tighter than expected but now I am able to start working on my car again. I started working on the interior and started to gut it to replace the carpet and redo some seats for my car. Well this is how my car sits for the winter
The car peaking out a bit
These are the seats that will be going in the car after I get them recovered. They will not be done in the Doe Skin like KITT originally had. I am doing mine in black since I like that color better.
These are also the new door panels that will be going on the car as well
I also got the seats all ripped out of the car right now as well. I got to tired so that is about as far as I got after being up for 27 hours.
More to come when I have time to work on it and also lots more parts to be coming for the car as well so keep looking to see what new things are going into and onto the car.
February 25, 2006
Got some more time to work on the car so I did. I wanted to get the carpet all torn out and start redoing some of the wiring in the car to make it look better even though it will be under the carpet when I put it in.
Here is what it looked like after I pulled the rear carpet out.
There is a little bit of rust in a corner but nothing a little sanding and sealing wont fix.
Now you can see what wiring I was hiding. First pic is with the console in and second is with it out. Almost looks like it exploded.
Now I have all the carpet out and NO RUST on the floor boards. I was happy to see that.
I thought I had some rust and you can see the little spots I am talking about but it was really nothing at all. Just a few spots that came off some little specs under the carpet.
These next ones you can see some of the wiring getting redone into better locations and taped into place so it wont move. Most of the wiring that is in the passenger side will hopefully be hidded behind the KITT dash I will be getting. The rca wires might need to be a little shorter but will wait and see since the Radio will hopefully be moving to a new location and just might need the longer rca's. Also you can see the new sound deadening pads on the floor as well. They are just sitting there for now just wanted to see how the fit. Will need to warm the barn up a little bit to get these put in properly
Now you can see most of what I took out of the car so far
Here is my battery isolator for my second battery.
These were my old battery post tops
And these are my new ones. The old ones will be going onto my second battery that is going in the back of the car.
Just another pic from behind the car
And now he is back to bed.
More to come as more parts arrive to go onto the car.
Here are a couple more pics of my new switches for my upper and lower console. I like the looks of them.
A few more parts showed up last week. Can you guess what might be in these 2 boxes?
Well in one box is my new Black PMD seat covers for my PMD seats.
The other box is my new black carpet for the car. The box is all taped up so I dont want to undo it right now to take pics. I will post pics as the parts go in so keep checking back for updates.

Well, my new interior is finally done and installed. Here are pics of the seats as I was recovering them Back seat
Recoverd PMD seats
Here are a few pics of the rear carpet installed.
Passenger carpet installed along with the center console. The last picture shows location of components that will be placed under the drivers seast
A few shots of the drivers PMD seat installed. The back of the seat still needs to be recovered before it gets installed back onto the seat.
Now here are the pics of the entire interior put back into the car. The excess wires in the back are for future stereo components and also an auxilary battery to help power the extra electronics added into the car.
I also got working on my lower console as well. Getting it ready for paint, would have painted it but it is too cold to paint right now, and also fabricated a braket to hold the console in place. I got the idea for a friend of mine on how he mounted his. I did the bracket a little different than his but I still got the idea from him. Thanks Jeremiah.
Here is the bracket that I made
Here is a pic of it installed so you can get a better idea on what the braket mounts to on the console
I just received one of the major parts of a KITT replica. I finally got my dash. It is an empty dash, no electronics, but at least I have a dash now. I went with a 1 tv dash from Marks Custom Kits out of florida. It came packaged very well. Here are a couple pics of how it was shipped to me.
Box full of packing peanuts
I did get it pulled out and did a mock up of it in the car to see how it looked. Doesnt look to bad.
I did get a tv bezel from Mark as well so I can use that to make my own tv bezel for my tv.
Here is out if fits in the car compared to the door panels and the front windshield
Since the tv area rests on the support of the lower console I had to add a couple nuts to the top of mine to see how much more I have to add to the top of the support so it fits the dash just right.
I did get the voice box area cleaned up enough for my voice box to fit in but the holes will have to be redone. They were done by mark but I have Christians voice box and the holes dont line up te best for the top led's. You can see from the pic that it doesn't fit in there just right.
The tv area was cut out next to accomidate my 8 ince widescreen tv. It still needs a little work. Just some cleaning up to match up with the tv bezel. First pic is without the tv in it and the second one is with me holding the tv inplace. Still need to make mounting tabs to hold the tv in place.
I also got an 8 inch touchscreen as well to go in the car. I like the 1 tv dash but I decided I wanted 2 screens in the car. I was thinking of molding it into the upperconsle but as a friend pointed out to me I would be blocking my view to the passenger side out the window so I had to find a different place where I could see it and have access to it. I figured I would have it sit off the side of the lower console. I dont think it looks too bad right there and I will have access to it very easily. Here are a couple pics of it just mocked up in place.
I did get the holes drilled out by the top vets to hold it in place now I just need to make some metal mounting brackets up by the front corners to hold the front down and in place. Still have some more work to do with it before it will be ready for paint but hopefully will get it done soon so I can get it mounted in the car. One last pic from the outside looking it.
I had a friend finish up my dash. The only thing that really need some work was the voice box area. The holes didn't match up with the led's on the voice box. Here is the work he did on it.
As you can see he did one hell of a job and it looks awesome.
Now come the time for paint. It is being painted just like my steering wheel. Black with Viper Red accents. Here is the red going on.
Now masking off what will stay red.
Now time to unveil it with the black and red on it.
Here is is with a shot of clear on it.
Next pics to come will be when i get it home and insalled in the car. Can't wait.
Here is the rest of the pictures of the dash.
Here is my new nose that I just installed. Needs some work but i like this one better
Got my voice box installed into the dash.
Got a new tv for my car. Replaced the pioneer TV that I had with a new Alpine touch screen TV. Much better quality

Wow....The day Micheal Knight came to Hazzard County. That shot of Kitt in the Garage with the General....Iconic! What a great shot! Well that pretty much sums up my youth infront of the tv! Of course, to round out my TV viewing....Where's Colt Severs Chevy Pick up with the rollbar and the Stuntman's logo on the hood? just wondering.. Great car! Peace
