Front Frame rebuild w/Cam, New gear ratio tranny, Stage 3 6 puck Clutch Masters clutch, 255 Fuel Pump, Removal of VRIS and a different intake manafold installed, and mazda rear sway bar install.
OK!!! Before you start reading this was a full frame swap that ended up facing a few problems. Its pretty much day by day untiul the tranny swap and belt fix. Those are of course at the end. This is the process of finally fixing the damage that the original owner failed to mention when selling it to me from out of state. I hope u enjoy it.
OK its the 18th and we have started the front fram fix. Damn the damage was much worse then I thought, the kid before me really smacked this and actually replaced things to cover it up.
So far the motor is out and things are ready to start being installed.
Here's the install list for the motor and car performance changes again;
MX-6 Tranny
Clutch Masters Stage 3 6 Puck
Mazda Rear Sway Bar
New Front Bumper w/Clear Corners
KLZE Cams
Total Removal of VRIS Setup
Weber 255 Fuel Pump
Mega Squirt (may end up being done next weekend or during the week depending on my work setup.
Also of course the new front frame is going on there, and I want to correct a few little things. We are flanging the Rear Header Mount to the exhaust and I am going to be transfering lights etc, chaning the old flip up lights for new ones and Changing the Ground Effect on the passnager side.
Well let me get the pics loaded and I will try and get good ones of the frame damage and we will go from there.
OK yesterday was a HUGE day.
First we got the new front frame on!!!!!
Second the tranny, Clutch, Cams and electrical all got put back together and are ready to put back on.
The new Instake is cleaned and ready to go on, and the front bumper and clear corners are installed! They line up nicely with the headlights.
The car needs a little tweaking but it should line up with some work, but its already a hell of a lot better.
I have some pictures of the new frame and everything going in I will take some more today all we need to do is get the motor back in and the new rear sway bar and fuel pump. Its almost done.
There will be another update at lunch hopefully showing the motor installed. I have to get the headers back on and flanged so this could be fun as well as get some further weilding I wanted done. So the job is about 76% right now. Its further along then the pictures show as the bumper, Lights, Everything under the fenders, is all on. I looked at it with the fenders last night and theres some small spacing issues but thats it from what I saw. I will know soon today!
Ok here is the car as it stands now, I got some tools to continue working but it takes 2 pwople with this cherry picker as well.. it wants to fall over because of the small space and how we had to adjust the legs lol. So I am finishing all the small stuff and getting ready to put the engine in. I figured now was a good time to show all the updates!!!
OK Yesterday was very Fustrating as this Cherry picker on such a small pad was not useable with out 2 people to get the motor in. SO I was stuck for most of the day waiting on other people to come help. But after that the struggle with the motor mounts, etc finally ended at 11pm and I was finished. I also handled some more loose ends. I painted the rear wiper to match the car (from red to black) I went around making sure everything was tight. I got the head light motors attached to the lights. The fenders are on, its alomst a car again!!! Heres the photo's, I hope to have it finished today but I still have the headers and the intake and then dropping the gas tank and rear sway bar to replace the sway bar with the mazda one and the fuel pump with the new 255 one. So its still trucking forward. The tranny seems to shift but I am not sure I have everything in the right spot so I will have to give a final report later on that one.
Well the car is almost done, it should run today if I can figure out some small stuff with it. I am trying to get some help with it, hopefully it should be ok. I have to install the rear sway with something stronger to lossen the bolts as I just don't have the power captian!! lol. So I will get that after I get the car running. On the fuel pump, well I am going to look at that and make sure its nothing to involved but I may wait to do it.
Ok we finished the car!! But.. the tranny I was sold was a Piece of Crap!! So we swapped back in the other one. I will get to work on having a custom one built using the bad one as a base. Right after finishing the Timing Belt Idle Tensioner broke its bolt so that had to be fix, which I have pics of below as well... not a fun day. But now it seems everything is done and the car is running much different. It grabs hard, runs hard and is a lot of fun!!! I have updated the main page with the new pictures. The M3's came off as I am ordering some with the turn signals in them. The Clear Corner Turn Signals look good and the new Fuel Pump and Rear Sway bar are great, big difference!!!
This is the Timing belt Tensioner Bolt Antonio Saved my butt on helping me replace when it snapped. I owe you so much Antonio I hope the LS1 Motor is enough!!!!
