sherlock640's 1987 Pontiac Fiero

I bought this car for $300 and have installed a new Iron Duke four banger? in it and am loving the gas mileage. I get about 40 MPG on the high way and 30 MPG in the city. The manual makes for good times in auto crossing and the low torque curve of the Pontiac engine gives the little 2500 lb. car a decent off the line jump. I am planning on investing in coilovers? to lower it 1". I have painted it a sunset orange and added 17" Tenzo Wheels to add to the ensamble of my car. Strut bars to improve the agility and Dual Exhaust are soon to come of my proud little Fiero. Let me know what you think.

The Past Three months of summer have held three shows for me where I was able to take second in semi-Custom class and then won the Best Daily driver award.

I just have the '84 vent covers for shows. Normal driving I put the regular vents back in because the engine would get hot. Thanks for the note.

Very nice! That's a really clean Duke. My second Fiero was a '87 Duke so this brings back memories. Now my current Fiero is a '88 Formula so I've upgraded a bit. I really like that paintjob. I was wondering what a good orange color would look like on a '87-'88 notchback. On the picture with your engine. I see you have a solid '84 panel cover over the air filter housing and a hump non-vented decklid. Do you also have the same solid panel over the battery? Are you seeing problems with temperatures? It seems like those vents do a good deal of work of letting hot air escape from the engine compartment. Just wondering if you've ran into any problems.

That is the shiniest 2.5L I've ever seen. How much did it cost brand new? I bought mine used for $800 Canadian. The mileage is wonderful, that's for sure... I once got 46 miles per gallon with mine.
