To help give some character to the engine I decided to take some parts and polish only part of them!

After seeing how cool the Fiero valve covers looked with the raised fins polished against the metal, I got and idea. I had noticed some of the old brakets had been chipping in the raised areas and looked horrible...I knew it would happen again, so I decided on a solution. What if those areas got polished and the rest stayed painted. It would give a neat appearance and cover up a problem area.

The easiest thing to do was get new pieces to start with...the junkyards are loaded with 2.8s, so I took my pick. I cleaned the new parts with degreaser and a toothbrush. Then I hit every raised edge on the front side with the scotchlock disk, then course to light grit pper and finished w/ the buffer.

I washed the piece with dish soap. Then taped off what polished areas I could. Then the piece was painted candy apple red. Once the job was done I pulled off the taped up polished areas.

Here is how it turned out.

Bolts
****************************************

Well with everything going bright in the bay, the only thing left to add that final touch was the fasteners. The bolts that are not only on the car's body, but the botls on the engine are getting swapped out to stainless. Being stainless, they are all goignt o recieve a healthy buffing to bring out the shine! We are trying to stick with button head bolts as they have the cleanest look!

Brake Lines
****************************************
To further declutter the bay, we wanted to reroute the brake lines. Since I now had the new tubular cross memeber, things were definately more airy now. So stainless lines were purchased, well they will polish up just as well!

Anodized AN fittings
****************************************
As you know the AN fitting mostly come in Blue and red. As Blue does not match my paint scheme at all, Joe stripped the color anodizing off of them. He soaked and scrubbed them in oven cleaner. Then to fished them, he then sanded and polished them to a high gloss. On a tight budget, its chearer then paying for the polised one, or using the black ones!
