RedraifExtras's 1987 Pontiac FirebirdMISC. TOUCHES
************************************************************************************************************************

These are the final touches that give the finished look to the car.

****************************************
3.4 EMBLEM on the 2.8L Intake
****************************************

One of the first things you see when you look at the engine is the intake. Well the car now has a 3.4 block swap, but used the 2.8 top end. There is no way to tell by looking at the engine. So I had to get rid of that old 2.8L emblem on the center of the intake and replace it with a 3.4L one.

Well there were no 3.4L emblems that I could find, so I had to make one. I got a old compact mirror. It was the exact size. I bought some anodized red looking lettering at Wal-Mart. I glued the letters on top and viola...3.4!

PONTIAC EMBLEM
****************************************

Here I added a little something to the place where the factory hood spring used to sit. See with the new SunCoast hood, I don't use the spring anymore. I wanted something to make that space look better, like it was still meant for something. And since I had done such massive emblem swapping the exterior of the car had no place with Pontiac on it. So this little guy paid some homage to PONTIAC!

SPARKPLUG WIRES
****************************************
I have the Taylor 8mm Red plug wires. They are good performance wires and they have a choice of colors.

This is the best way to go! They are the style you cut to your own length.
Im not sure of the price. Summit carries them!

****************************************
DISTRIBUTOR CAP
****************************************

I also got a Accel Distributor cap and and rotor w/ brass terminals. I painted the plactic on the cap red.

TRANNY LINES AND COOLER
****************************************

I got Earl's Stainless lines for the Transmission lines. Actually it was a performance upgrade for the new stall convertor. I had to be sure it would have proper cooling capacity. But I can't help but notice how much nicer it looks in my bay w/o the dreaded tranny lines running up to the radiator. Here is all you see of them now...

BRAIDED STAINLESS FUEL LINES
****************************************

When we went to Truleo intake, the old fuel lines would not work, so we had to figure out something different. So braided stainless seemed to be the best answer.

****************************************
AIR DUCTING
****************************************

When I swapped over to the SunCoast hood and ram Air system, I had to rig up my own couplers to amke the system work. The couplers that came with the hood were V-8 specific. So to keep a cleaner look I replaced all the factory ducts and went with ones from Lowes/Home Depot. They are actually a coupler that is 4in on one end and 3.5in on the other, if I remember the sizing right! This allowed me to couple the larger ram air box opening to the mass air sensor cleanly.
