Well show season is over and its time for all the fun projects to start again. Last year the interior, fabric related was finished, so now its time to go under the skin and fix and improve all the annoying things this car has to offer.
All the following products im using u can get a www.secondskinaudio.com
Step One.
Take all the damm panals out, clean the surfaces...the usuale.
Step Two.
Sound Deadening (sp)
I ordered some of the Second Skin "spectrum" for the second layer after the damplifier layer. Thats what all that stuff that looks blue is.
First put a layer of damplifier on the outside of the trunk skin, then a few layers of the brush on stuff......
Also I filled all the holes with expanding foam to reduce any type of vibration that may occur. The pics are before i did it.....
These are the holes i filled
Inside the trunk lid there are alot of open spaces so i used regular dense foam to fill them all up as tight as i could.....this is the foam that i used......
After finishing the skin and spray foam and stuffing i moved on to the frame by doin the same process with the damplifier, and then the liquid spectrum.
The next pic is with about 3 layers of spectrum, with the current layer still wet.....
The Last two pics are the finished product....everything is stuffed and dried. The white is the foam that was placed inside the trunk lid itself. The Spectrum direes to a nice dark grey color.
Overall this wasent that hard to do, just time consuming and tedious. The trunk does weigh a shit load more now so be careful not to slam it at all. Obviously im not into this for performance so why not get the best sound of out the car. This took me about one day of working on it all day with only a few breaks for beer and food. After reinstallin i got to say that the bass is much stronger and more focused to the front of the car. Outside the trunk all u hear is a low bump, no rattling what so ever.....
