I went to Circuit City and got a 12-disc changer installed. It was a modulated unit. My head unit still worked well enough that I did not want to give up on it yet.

I decided that I wanted the changer to be in a hidden location. I had it put it the locked box in the trunk of the car. I learned the hard way to watch the installation guys. He broke every clip holding the panels in the back of the car. Then he did not get the rear folding seat pin aligned properly and the seat would not go back up. To top it off, I had told him not to put the radio back in after the install. It was a tight squeeze & I had to fit everything in a certain way with those in-line signal processors for my amps. Well, he put the radio back in anyway. He rushed, pushed, and managed to break off the tabs that the radio mounts too.

How did I know, you ask? Well, I was tipped off when I was driving down the road and my radio literally popped out of the console and caused the faceplate to fly off. It scared the crap out of me in the process.

Amazingly, the shop repaired everything, but thats why I do all my own installs now.

Alarm:
****************************************

I was in college living at an apartment. My neighbor told me her car had been broken into twice since she had been living there. I decided it was time for an alarm system. I went to a different shop this time.

Radioactive installed my **** 2-stage alarm. Since the car has t-tops, I got a space shield. I was also concerned about the increase in car jacking up at school. I got a car-jack system installed that engages the alarm if a door is opened while the car is running. It also engages if you do not hit the secret button w/in 30-second of starting the car. Sounds like a pain, but you just get into a habit. The alarm guys said that they had never had anyone keep the car jack alarm. It was too hard to deal with. Well, I still have it and years later it still works beautifully. Thank god I have never had to test its effectiveness.

It gave me a great insurance break with USAA as well. It has paid for itself so many times over.
Its funny, anytime there is any maintenance needed on the alarm, they have to have me back there to explain how the alarm works. I tell you what, I have learned a lot by watching and asking questions.
The guys still tease me about having the only car jack system in GA.

Trunk Lights:
****************************************

I got tired of not being able to see when I opened the trunk at night. I bought some lights and mounted them. I wanted them to work like the overhead lights, to come on automatically when you open the trunk.
After much trial and error I figured out how the factory door pins worked. I had to read the manual and look at wiring diagrams, but I figured it out. It is hot all the time. It just forms the circuit when a ground is made, ergo, the pin switch. I was so clear after that. I got some pin switches from Radio Shack and went on with the install.

I noticed how dull the section had gotten b/w my taillights. I went to the dealer to see about a new one, way too much. The ones at the junkyards were not much better than mine. The body shops could not polish it out. It looked horrible. I was stumped. Then one day I saw a Firebird with just his tail lights painted to match the body. I decided to take it a step further and paint the whole section ($75).

I got another one of the emblems ($25) that matched the ones mom had found years earlier. I placed it below the key lock. My opinionnot bad for $100.00.

I think it looks even better than stock.

Emblems:
****************************************

With the red taillights, I got a bit bolder. I decided to paint the emblems that say Firebird, on the sides, red.
They were looking dull and discolored. I also decided to change the style of the letters a bit. I took a knife and carved them in places. I stole the letter design from the TV show VIPER. I also noticed that Dodge used this style on their lettering.

Great work on your page and I think that you should have a better rating for as much work as you put into it. It's crazy how much one thing like tint can cause so much trouble. My Brother-in-law get pulled over all the time for his loud exhaust. mine is loud enough to set car alarms off but the funny thing is that I work for the count jail as a detention officer and know all the patrol offiers in the area. They just smile and wave.

Hey, sorry about not getting back to you in a while...I haven't checked this site since December. Feel free to use any interior pics you need. Unfortunately, the car is in my dad's storage garage 9 hours north of me and I won't see it until this summer. So I will not be able to take any additional pics at this time-sorry.
