How RAIF and I met...

I was 14 and like any other soon to be driver, I wanted a car when I turned 15.
My choice: a new black GTA Firebird with T-tops.
Yeah, right!
Dad wanted to give me the old 70s Skylark.
Please god, No!
Mom said no way.
Whew!
Being that I am a girl, Mom demanded that I needed a reliable car. She wanted me to get a new car.

There was much deliberation. Many cars were looked at. What I liked, I was not going to get. What he liked I would not want to be caught dead in.

May 11, 1989...

I heard the announcement at school on my birthday. Shannon, do not ride the bus. Your parents will pick you up at school. This was not a cool thing in junior high. Embarrassed, I went to wait for them after school, but I could not find their car. Then I saw it. A RED FIREBIRD with a huge bow tied around the T-TOP bar.

It was a red 1987 base model, automatic, w/ a 2.8L V-6 FI engine. Darn it Dad! He just couldn't make it a 350 V-8 or the Turbo Trans Am But hey, it had T-tops and was my second choice color.

These are the only stock shots I have of my car.

NOTE THE FOLLOWING PICS ARE NOT OF MY CAR...SOME ARE BORROWED FROM OTHERS!
************************************************************************************************************************

Just using them for an better idea of what the car looking like, seeing as how my pics did not scan well!

This car is so close to how my car was stockjust mine had t-tops and NO louvers. Thanks rhaltunen for posting the link in my guestbook. This car is the superior condition mine was in when I started...

INTERIOR
****************************************

I had no shots of my interior in stock form. These pics are IDENTICAL to my stock set up down to the door panels with non power cranks! Thanks again rhaltunen!

I asked him to post up some more shots, like of the door panels with them open, the trunk alone from the rear and sides and from the front with the split seats down, but nothing yet! I sure hope he comes thru!

These are pics of a junkyard car with the same basic interior. My car was never in this kind of poor condition...

ENGINE

Here is my stock engine before I started to modify it. This is the only pic I have of my engine in stock form.

Here are some pics of other 2.8L engines optioned out just like mine, so you can see what the car looked like in stock form. Now my engine was never as rusty or dirty as these. Remember these are pics of cars that have had a good 15 years of age compared to mine before it was modified. And these are not show cars.

Here is a pic of a white car I saw at the Tipp City Cruise in OH in 2004.
This car had a clean engine bay and was optioned identical to mine.

Great work on your page and I think that you should have a better rating for as much work as you put into it. It's crazy how much one thing like tint can cause so much trouble. My Brother-in-law get pulled over all the time for his loud exhaust. mine is loud enough to set car alarms off but the funny thing is that I work for the count jail as a detention officer and know all the patrol offiers in the area. They just smile and wave.

Hey, sorry about not getting back to you in a while...I haven't checked this site since December. Feel free to use any interior pics you need. Unfortunately, the car is in my dad's storage garage 9 hours north of me and I won't see it until this summer. So I will not be able to take any additional pics at this time-sorry.
