Thanks for being interested in my 78 Malibu. I've worked long hours and many, many weekends to get it the way it looks and performs today. I've done all the work myself. This includes painting the car.

The highlights of this car is it's capability to run fast while still maintaining docile street manners. It's fully capable of going down the dragstrip or taking long cross country trips while getting 24+ miles per gallon. It's DVD theater system and navigation system ensures you will get there without getting bored and it'll get you there doing so in the comfort of automatic climate control air conditioning. Be sure to vote!

At the first of 2004, I started to put the car through a major transition. Bored with the car I fell in love with back in 86 (yes I've owned it that long), I decided to paint the car yellow, take off the Choo Choo Customs (Monte SS) nose I installed in 1991 and add a lot of new options. Most of the options are from a wrecked 84 Buick T-Type. They include: Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Twilight Sentinel, Automatic Touch Climate Control, Security System and Rear Window Defogger. I also added an Automatic Dimming Mirror with Compass and Outside Temperature display, Remote Mirrors, Remote Trunk Release, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, Delay Wipers, Digital Dash from Dakota Digital, a Pioneer AVH-P7800DVD Theater system which includes these formats: 6.1 Dolby Digital - DTS Surround Sound - Pro Logic II, DVD video, DVD Audio, Video CD, Television, MP3, DivX Video, AM/FM and of course, it plays CD's. I also sprung for the optional DVD Navigation unit, XM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth for making and receiving phone calls. On a trip (750 miles one way) the Malibu averaged 24.8mpg cruising at 70-75mph!

I know a lot of people like to strip their cars to make them lighter but I've chosen to go for a fully optioned car that happens to be fast also. Running 10's is no easy task! With the extreme torque of the turbo V6 adding all those options shouldn't make a huge difference. Please don't take this wrong... I like a fast race car but a fast fully optioned street car is more impressive to me! AUTOMATIC SWITCHING DUAL FUEL SYSTEM!

I designed it so it switches between 87 octane and 116 octane...AUTOMATICALLY....on-the-fly! Here is a video of it in action. Click here to go to my site! There you will see how it operates.

VIDEO's

Here is a dragstrip video taken on Nov 30th 2006. It was a 6.69 at 104 pass at the local dragstrip. The boost was 25psi on this run. It also hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift and then bogged some. Still a decent run though...
VIDEO----> 6.69 at 104mph 8th mile

Here's a recent drag strip video on low street boost - 17-18psi. I'm trying to iron out some tuning bugs before I go with more boost. Even at 17-18lbs of boost the car is running low 7's at 98mph in the 8th mile. That's low 11's at 120 in the quarter.

Slower run at the strip with 17psi of boost.
Click here for video!

The best 8th mile ever is a 6.53 at 107mph while still averaging up to 25MPG on the open highway! This was done a few years back with stock ported heads and intake. Once I turn the boost up the car should be faster now with aftermarket full ported heads and intake. Look for these times to improve! More boost to come!

February 2006: Running 17psi of boost and 93 octane, it makes 407HP and 512TQ at the rear wheels. This was a baseline dyno run to give me an idea of what the HP is in full street trim. The air/fuel ratio was a very lean 14.0 to 14.3 so HP should be higher when I fix the the leaning out problem. Look how lean it was running on the dyno!!!

November 4th 2006: This is a recent dyno test with the car at 25psi of boost and 116 octane. It made 580 rear wheel horsepower! The air fuel ratio was reading all over the place and not stable. I'm sure once that is fixed 600+ HP will be seen. That's over 700HP at the flywheel!!!

February 9th 2008: Running 27psi of boost the car put down 600 rear wheel horsepower!

You can't tell it but in the picture below the car is wearing 28x10.5x15 M/T slicks on a 5.5 inch backspace wheel!

I've installed a third socket/bulb assembly into the center of each tail light lens. This gives me a unique 3 bulb tail/brake lights. Sequential turn signals are a nice addition to the option's installed.
