Cadillax's 1991 Pontiac Firebird

Howdy. Car Domain sites seem like the thing to do for my car so here it is for all to see.

I bought this car in July of 2004. It was owned by a guy who was preferring to drive his Callaway Corvette C4 everyday (go figure). As soon as I saw her I wanted her. Actually performing the transaction of purchasing her is a funny story I will only tell to close friends.

Anyway, she was sitting in a car port for 3 years after having obviously been driven a long time (168,000 miles on odometer). I gathered that the owner "Pete" cranked her up periodically but never really drove her. Well, he decided to sell her last December and paid about 2K to get her road worthy again... but just barely.

Once I got her, I spend another 3K replacing critical components like BRAKES, tires, GAS TANK, the entire suspension. A paint job later and here she is.

She gives me great pleasure.

Since I got her and being a part of EA's Motor City Online (rest in peace EAS) I have been obcessing on modifying the engine. All my reading seems to support that that Chevy 305 TBI doesn't lend itself to much improvement unless you really wanna fork out the cash. So, I've set my target pretty low with it being 200+ RWHP. Staying within the draconian smog laws in California, I should be able to do this. Plus, I am happy with the performance I have now. I can cut my tires loose pretty much whenever I want, I have acceptable lateral acceleration, and I get 25-28 MPG on the road.

Thanks for coming by and looking at my car. Look for me on the ThirdGen.Org forums under the name "Cadillac".

Hey man very nice bird! It's always nice to see someone restoring and taking care of a thirdgen. It's also nice to see someone else who has a TBI and doesn't think its a paper weight. Keep up the good check out my car when you get a chance. Also, if you have any secrets on how to get the most power out of a TBI and keeping it Mass/Cali emissions legal please let me know!

Excellent! I love the 91 'Verts, too. And I agree with you on the wheel color. Brad's bezels really set of the interior, don't they? I know I love mine. If you get that "windfall", upgrade your engine with a complete swap. Best bang for the buck IMO would be an LT-1 with their sequential EFI harness and ECM, especially if you stroked it out to a 383 . And if you go with a SuperRam you can still be emissions legal (why I went that route in Dallas, TX). See ya on ThirdGen.org!
