In July 2004, I was looking for a nice muscle to build up and restore. Fortunately I found this 1972 all original, numbers matching Monte Carlo for very cheap and decided to invest my time and money into it.

The car was purchased in '72 "fully loaded" with power everything, leather bench seats, A/C, rear window defrost, and a AM/FM Radio. The car came with the 402 big block(other options were a 350, 400,and 454 SS version), TH400 tranny, 12-bolt rear end and a vinyl top.

This car was bought brand-new is 1972 and kept in excellent condition all through it's life. The original owner used it only as a summer car, and garaged it through the rain. When the man passed away, his family decided to sell the car and it came upon me, and I had always wanted to start restoring cars early in my life. Since the original owner had passed away the original emerald paint had started to fade and so I repainted it in a nice Racing Green.

So, I slapped on a pair of Uniroyal Tigerpaw 235/75's on the 15" rallye wheels in the back. I am soon replacing the front tires, which are the original Eagle GT 215/65's(no longer made) with the similiar Eagle GT II's.

The 2 1/2" stock exhaust piping coming from my Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers. In the spring I'm going to build my own exhaust, using a Patriot Stainless Steel side-pipe kit.. For the stock GM 12-bolt rear-end, I filled it with 3:73 gears, perfect for frequent driving and mileage around town and on the highway. Oh yeah, good for dragging around town too :)

Nice Ride Man!!! I also have a 72 that I am just finishing the suspension on. My 402 will undergo much of the same internals that yours did, but I will sit the rotator under a pair of Dart Alum heads and a nice new injection system. 5 Stars for you!

Nice ride. Although I don't care for the 402's, BUT yours looks like its setup pretty straight though. I pulled my 402 and went witha newer 400 small block. My 400 is built though. Has way more power than the 402 and way more potential. EXCEPT FOR THE STROKER UPGRADE. Although the 400 small block has a stroker app. to. Well, check mine sometime.

My favorite year! Nice work on the motor. My 402 is sitting in my garage waiting to be reborn. Is the quarter mile time you posted 10.95 at 115mph what it has done or a guess ? Because the mph is way too low. And I`m not knocking the car cuz it`s nice but the setup (tires for example) would not propell the car to those times. Let me know.

nice ride, they only made a 454 SS package for '70 and '71 though, '72 the performance packages were pretty weak. the front end looks way better than '70 and '71 though.
