Rear Active Aero repair:

* Updated 05Oct2004*

Before I repair front Aero dam, I already repair the rear Aero spoiler last year. Why I do that? Because, the rear Aero spoiler not work already, but I love 3000GT looking, so, I still bought it. There are some experience.

Frist, take off the inside trim from the hatch. You need remove all metal clips & plastic clips, at the bottom of trim (if you are standing on the rear & face to the car)have two bolts remember remove them.GTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GTGTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT

Then, you will see the clear hatch, at the middle of the rear spoiler have 3 bolts & have 2 pair bolts on both outside(cover by 4 rubber cap), remove them, remember call your friend to hold the rear spoiler, if not, drop & crash the rear window, also, don't cry infront of me hehe....!! and disconnect the harness.

If you wanna separate the motor, gear & 2 sensor parts with the steel line plate, you should remove 2 metal support bolts. Then, remove 3 bolts on the motor, gear, sensor side. But I forgot take this section photo. Luckily, I found this photo from GTOUK froum aero repair section. I need to thanks this guy. But I forgot who is he. Still thanks.

If you wanna to check your motor, gear & 2 sensor. Pls play the attention here. After open the motor side, how to check the motor? Face to the socket, upper side have pin 1,2,(from left to right), lower side have pin 3~7(from left to right). You just connect 12V +ve to pin6 -ve to pin7, reverse the polarity make sure the motor gear operate freely.

Now, apply 12V +ve to Pin6, -ve to Pin7 (just let the spoiler goes down, unplug at once, don't all the time connect to the battery!!!!) and then, Pin3 & Pin5 should be connected, test by Volt/Ohm meter.

Afterthat, apply 12V +ve to Pin7, -ve to Pin6 (just let the spoiler goes up), Pin3 & Pin4 should be connected.

If you pass the rear spoiler testing, you can assume your rear spoiler motor, limited switch is no problem!(Active Aero Service Manual section PDF file)

Then, I found the motor being corroded. And missing 2 Shoe Air in the guide pin stand on both outside. I thought which are removed by previous owners to make the spoiler on flat position. GTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GTGTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT

So, I order this generic path (shoe air) from my local dealer, but I need wait around one month!! I already disassembly all of them, how come I wait! so, I decided to hand make this part. Maybe one month later, I will schedule someday to exchange them. But till now I still use my hand make part!!! hehehe....GTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GTGTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT

Finally, all parts work fine & I reinstall all of them.
