Front Active Aero Repair:

DUR TO THE CARDOMIN.COM CHANGED SOME HTML CODING, I FOLLOWED THE HTML TEXT HINTS TO RECREATE THE LINK STILL FAILURE, SO, THE FOLLOWING SOME VIDS LINK NOT WORK. IM SO SORRY ABOUT THAT, THANKS

Now, you can copy & paste the links text to your bowser address field, press enter, still can view the videos. Thanks

The front Active Aero Spoiler can't move upward or downward! So, I decided to check it.

Release Aero dam bolts. Only the iron bar outside 2 pairs bolts & the central 5 bolts.(Red color bolts in the diagram). You can jack up the car if you have it. I have not, so, only laid on the floor release the bolts, soooo tired!!GTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT

The Aero dam only downward.GTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT

Aero dam Removed. Motor, connector & aero motor gear box.(White Circle Box on the right side)GTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT

Disconnet the Aero motor circuit socket. There is no pin 3. So, easy to clarify which are pin 5,6. The socket face to you, missing Pin 3 is upper side, from left to right, also, lower side from left down to right. (Pin 1,2 & 4,5,6). Then connect 12V battery to pin 5(+ve),6(-ve)move L-shape hanger upward, connect VOM to pin 1,2,4 check the connection. Connect Pin2 & Pin4 untill Pin2 open circuit(Dam Up). Also, check downward. Connect Pin1 & Pin4 until pin 1 open(Dam down). Pls refer to service manual vol.1 page 51-22.

You'll see that sometime upward position the Pin2 & Pin4 is in close circuit but the L-shape hanger is still upward.(The metal plate is in wrong Position with motor arm mis-match). ** The right position must be in open circuit.** Also, the motor arm connected to L-Shape hanger & rod to roll the 2 L-Shape hanger up & down. The motor just will rotate one direction for roll hanger up & down, no reverse motion for up or down.

The Front Aero dam outside support bar bended & inside one is iron corrosion seriously. And I use sand paper to remove all metal corrode then, use autobody filler to make it smooth again & repaint black color.GTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GTGTOHK's 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT

The outside support bar bended seriously, I use the traditional method re-position it. And I'll add the aluminum bar between two bar, drill the bolts hole, so, I hope can make them stronger & light weight.

In this section is more importance. It's because demonstrate how to adjust the motor's
gear and sensor position.

a) Remove the white motor gear box with sensor cover, here only 2 little bolts. Remember remove the rubber O-ring, don't break it.

b) Open it, you will see like this photo. Three main points must be concern. The metal plate, three metal fingers, and their positon.

c) From the photo left to right, near center metal finger is socket pin 1(Green/Black), and follow by the pin 4 (Blue) then is pin 2(Green/Red) [see the pic] & you can see the metal plate have 2 gaps, they are in opposite direction, smaller is locate inner side, large one is outermost side.

d) If the Aero dam is up, so, the pin 2 should be located to the center of larger gap on the metal plate.(like the pic position)

e) So, when the Aero dam is up, Then, the mechanical sensor metal plate should be pin 2 is open, pin 1,4 is looping.

f) when the dam is down, the smaller gap will rotate to the larger gap position. pin 1 is open, pin 2,4 is looping.

g) how to adjust the mechanical metal plate sensor? turn the motor manual knob which is on the rear of motor and cover by rubber cover. It is easy step but too trouble procedure. Open the cover & side by side,

i) make a straight line by ruler which direction laid on the red line see pic position #1,
ii) make a marker on plastics cover see pic position #2,
iii) maker another marker on plastics cover see pic position #3,
iv) close the cover & make the previous marker #2 & #3 to the metal shell on position #5 & #4. [Brief marker #2=>#5, mark#3=>#4],
v) re-open the plastics cover turn the metal plate sensor & the center of larger gap to position #4 on metal shell, so, the center of smaller gap should be on position #5. the right position adjustment is completed.
vi) close the cover with O-ring

h) If you adjust the L-shape hanger and the motor arm, you should remove the motor arm nut, unplug the motor arm and then rotate the L-shape hanger upward, re-plug motor arm to motor, tight the motor arm nut. NOW, all in right position.

Remember, everytime the L-Shape hanger normal position is up, and Aero Switch is OFF, rear spoiler is down, the Gear with sensor plate position same as the following photo.

And this page is exactly how to adjust & repair Active Aero System, so, you need to think about, can you do that or not, any damage, call your local dealer & don't cry infront of me!!!hahaha....... :P

Heee.... all the repair is completed!! pls see the photos. And waiting reintall to my 3000GT.!!!

** This adjustment is very importance. If the front Aero dam action not match with the rear Aero spoiler, you only play the Aero switch 3 or 4 times, then the Aero warning lamp come ON. But now I can play the Aero switch until the battery discharge. hahaha.... :P
