UPDATE> 10-24-05: well i took my vette out on its first roadtrip after rebuilding it, and i discovered that i need to rebuild the entire front-end. so back to the story: i decided to visit my brother in KY, and on the way back me and my sister thought since we were so close to the corvette museum why not stop and take a look around. all i can say is WOW! this museum getts better every time i go. they had on disply lots of one off's and they also had the one and only SURVIVING 1983. but after i got home i couldnt find the picture in my digital camera. but it too was there.
the museum entrance
a cut-away of a corvette LT1
the racing suite that dale JR wore in the 2001 season
the one millionth corvette
an aluminum prototype from 1972, the only metal bodied corvette ever produced.
i think this was the first malcom konner car
i think this was the first calloway car
and this yellow gem is the first ZR1. it was the disply/show car for the geneva auto show in 1989, thats right 1989. if you dont believe me just look closly at the disply plaque.
me being a geek over a couple of C-4 challenge race cars from 1989
i just couldnt resist. this was a teenage fantasy realized.
many thanks to the national corvette museum, if your ever in the bowling green area, this is worth stopping by and checking out. we were there on a monday, and it was great. there were no weekenders cloging things up and we felt like this was open just for us, so we took our time and looked at everything. all in all we were there for the better part of 4 hours. i will be going back again in the future.
