1967 Ford Fairlane 500XL
Updated June.14/2005

Everything finally came together under the hood of my Fairlane. Saturday morning I got everything ready to start the engine for the first time since being rebuilt. After cranking for about 10 seconds it backfired, so I figured the timing might be off. I made a slight adjustment to the distributor and a minute later it was running strong again. I let it run for about 20 minutes at 2000rpm as recommended by Clevite to properly break in the new cam and lifters. After I was sure everything was OK, I installed the power steering pump and reconnected everything. After taking it for a test drive, I'm quite sure it has at least all 200 Horses back.

Here's the Fairlane back out, cleaned and ready to cruise again. With the new cam the idle is just a bit lumpy and the dual exhaust with "Thrush" mufflers gives it just the sound I wanted. The 'ole girl will do a mean one wheel peel now!
