The votes are in! With a 37% vote, the 427 wheels are going to stay. I think they look better with the new trim rings.

DON'T FORGET TO LET ME KNOW YOU STOPPED BY!

A Brief History

After being born on May 1st, 1967 in Lorain Ohio, my Fairlane headed north of the border.  She is one of only 14,871 500XL Hardtops produced, with total Fairlane production reaching 238,688 for the '67 model year.  My Fairlane spent the first part of her life making sure that a Manitoba doctor got where he needed to go in style. After doing some checking I found someone who still remembers the doctor who owned my car, and her father likely sold it to him since he owned the local Ford dealership at the time. After moving to Ontario in the late 80's my Fairlane spent some time with two more loving owners and about eight years ago got a new coat of paint in the original colour. When I found her in Tillsonburg, I knew I had to have her. Now she leads a more relaxing lifestyle cruising the sparkling north shore of Lake Erie.

As the weather improves, my progress on the restoration in the engine compartment of the Fairlane is moving along quite well. It should be back on the road soon, only missing the earliest shows of the season. With the discovery of a variety of unknown problems, such as a very worn camshaft, badly scored crankshaft and a few broken compression rings, it was an easy decision to have the engine bored over and have the crank ground. While the engine is out, the power steering hoses have been replaced and the control valve rebuilt. Everything in the engine compartment that is not new is being restored.

The teardown also revealed all the original C6 casting numbers so I am now confident that the engine is the original. An email from customer service at Plastikote revealed that the #205 Ford blue is for 1959-1964 engines, and #224 New Ford blue is for 1965-1971 engines. I have decided to keep the original intake and rebuild the Autolite 2BBL carb. I really feel strongly about keeping the car as original as possible. My new upholstery from Dearborn Classics arrived and it looks great. Quality materials and excellent workmanship.
