Where the magic happens!
Having your own machine shop sure helps get things done right

The old beater number 3 waiting for engine and transmission #3. It started life as a 2.3 turbo diesel and after 280,000 miles it was given a 358ci with a saginaw 4spd and Dana 24. Got bored with that and swapped in a T5 to replace the saginaw. After I sold my Imperial I threw $8k into the engine to make a 396ci windsor. Then decided to make this one a rock hopper so I pulled them both and going with a 306ci and T18 with a NP205.

This was the first trip down the road with the 396W in it. You can just make out the k&n velocity stack sticking up. This engine was only in it for about 8k miles when the oil pump decided to commit suicide. I decided to leave the engine out of it because it was a HORRIBLE 4x4 engine.

I really loathe body work.... I have learned to live with dents now and am a more peaceful person.

A common view of me.... Thats the 396W when I still had no idea that a 550hp engine is a horrible 4x4 powerplant.

When you cant figure it out, sleep on it. I have no idea what I was doing here but I guess Im figuring out drivetrain problems. You can see the aluminum fuel cell I welded up in the back, and the 3" side pipes when the headers arent hooked up.

After the oil pump blew, I had to park it in the orchard for a while while I built up a 306 to replace it.

The 306ci is going together nicely for it...
The redone T18 is waiting to be hooked to its NP205
1. Why I dont use stock rotating assemblies anymore
2. Why I dont listen to friends who say "How far can that thing leave rubber!?"
3. A perfect excuse for a bigger engine!!
NP205 soda blasted and ready for rebuild!
Heres a better pic of the cowl hood and 3" side pipes
Corabeu seats were kind of overkill for this truck considering it spends its life getting trashed in the desert. They sure are comfortable tho!
Here you can see the heat sheilding and headers in place from the 358ci that was in it last. Also note the heater box mod to allow me to remove the valve covers easily.

Got carried away jumping the '90 and lost a coil spring. Ended up doing it again before I finally decided to use some coil spring retainers.
