nixarevhead's 1976 Holden Torana

Introduction

This is my 'new-to-me' toy. A '76 Holden LX Torana. I got this when the '78 UC Torana Hatch I had been rebuilding for 4 years decided to have a twisted chassis/body which wasn't able to be repaired, or even really worth it for a UC!

My Old man owned this car (Teh LX) for 3 years before deciding to give up on her all together. Lucky for me my Aunt & Cousin talked Dad into selling the Torana to me! That and he didn't really wanna sell her to some other dick who would strip her and most likely use her for spare parts...After all, she only needs a little TLC!

Definately an awesome score for me, and this is where my story of owning her and doing what I can/want to revive her to her former beauty begins.

Here's some details of her when I got her;
Motor: V8, 253ci. (20+ years old and never has been rebuilt ever, and thrashed for all those 20+ years every day..and she's still going strong)
Carb: 2 Barrel Stromberg
Gearbox: 3 Speed Traumatic
Diff: Unknown, haven't had a need to crawl under and find out what ratio it is yet.
Springs: Original Springs that came from factory.
Shocks: Original Springs that came from factory.
Mags: R14x7 Hotwires
Tyres: Bridgestones R14/225/65 all round
Bodykit: Missing.

^ All photos on this page are how she was when I got her.

For now, she will roar/grunt/whatever with the 253 until the day that it dies. I currently have no plans on upgrading the motor to something more beefy as I feel it's the last place I wish to start. At the moment, I'm more concerned about her appearance, and the state of her body.

Great start for a project, I agree with your list of job priorities. Be patient and you will end up with a great Torana.

Keep it up. 70's cars are fun to work on. And to have a car that not many other people have is so awsome! Check my ride out!
