90Acclaim's 1990 Dodge SpiritMy name is Jim, and this site is about my 90 Plymouth Acclaim that has been changed over to look like a 93+ Dodge Spirit. Included with these changes is a mildly built up turbo engine, along with suspension modifications, and interior changes.

The following pages show what I've done to my car, as well as the problems I've had along the way. Like the picture of me above, when I was taking a break during a blown headgasket fix.

In the meantime, I did it myself. That doesn't mean I didn't do a good job though. I removed all the door skins and rubber mouldings to ensure it was the same color when you opened the door/got in the car. I can't stand it when someone does a job halfway, you might as well not even do it.

This is a before and after pic of the engine bay. My N/A engine blew a connecting rod due to lack of oil. It was taking a liter of oil every 100kms and after a couple weeks it got so annoying, I just stopped adding it. The turbo engine is a common block with forged/balanced internals. It's running a SRT4 IC, and the smaller mitsu turbo which is great for me, since I just run around the city and like the almost zero lag I get from it.

Thanks,
- Jim

Hi - nice work on your Acclaim. I especially like the direction you took with your engine & suspension. I'm curious...where did you get that spoiler. I have one from a Ford Escort, but it's not installed yet and I'm wondering if that's what it will look like when its done. I hope so - its a nice touch.

I love those green gauges, they really complement the digital cluster. Curious; what brand are they? Not very many companies offer digital gauges in colors other than red.

Nice work man, I like what you did to the air cleaner on the stock TBI motor, it looks good. Nice work on the turbo swap too, not to mention the manual conversion! I had a digital dash in my Spirit for a while but I kept the analog gauges for the tachometer. check out my Spirit sometime.
