Box is anchored with a nylon tie-down to the child seat loop.
New Audiobahn cast aluminum grille.

There is still enough room to seat 2 people 5'10" & smaller in the back. For long trips with only 3 people, I can move the box over to to one of the sides.

In case you're wondering I didn't use any Dynamat and I have NO vibrations, even with the sub pounding at 900W peak. This says a lot about toyota build quality.

How to put in a new deck into a new Tacoma:

What you need:
-Phillips screw driver
-metric socket set or nut drivers
-flexible 1-2" wide putty knife
-pliers
-crimper, stripper cutter, and small insulated crimp connectors or soldering
supplies (obviously)
- electrical tape
-Toyota install kit for double DIN (lower tray and wire harness)got mine at Car
Toys but Best Buy also carries it
-maybe some Locktite for good measure

1) Remove lower plastic pannel below ashtray. Push in on the center part of the
2 plastic fastners until you can just pull them out. then remove piece &
disconnect power wires to 12V outlets.

2) Remove plastic cover below steering column. (you need to remove the hood
release handle first)

3) Remove smaller tan or gray piece to right of last place. (kind of a bitch.
you might have to squeeze the lower clip from the backside to get it out. you
also might have to wait until you unattach the main center trim surround)

4) Remove ashtray

5) Remove Heater/fan/AC Control knobs and face (use a flexible putty knife and gently pry
from the sides of face)

6) Remove 2 screws from under the heater control face & 1 screw from under the
ashtray.

7) You can now remove the main center trim surround by gently prying from the
sides with the putty knife. (mine seemed stuck at first but then came off)

8) When you get it off the air bag switch will still be attached. unscrew it
and just take it off because the connector is too hard to get off. I just set
the switch up on the dash still connected to the wires

9) The cigarette lighter is hard to get disconnected too so I left it and moved
the whole trim piece out of the way with the lighter still connected.

10) Unscrew the deck from the front 4 screws and pull it out and disconnect
wires

11) take off the 4 screw that hold the 2 brackets onto the sides of the old deck
(save screws, you might need them)

12) remove trim plate and metal jacked from new deck. you don't use them.

13) Get the new deck and mount the brackets to it. They should line up with
pre-existing holes in the new deck. Mount the deck to the top holes in the
bracket (use some Locktite on the threads)

14) take the tray you bought and mount it to the brackets and deck (mine only
used 2 of the screws. I also had to cut off 2 small tabs off the top outer
edge of the tray because they got in the way of the deck) the flat side is
down on the tray.

15) make sure deck (w/o faceplate) is flush with face of tray

16) Connect deck wire harness to the one from the kit with crimp connectors or
if you like the long way, solder them. cut off the exposed ends of the kit
harness and deck harness for the power antenna, phone mute, and any unnecessary
leads and put tape over the ends. if your deck uses a dimmer wire to dim the
display with the lights, use the orange/white wire out of the kit harness.

17)connect wires and antenna to deck and car and test it out.

18)stuff wires into hole and mount deck with brackets and 4 screws you removed.

19) put smallest tan or gray plastic pannel back on (to lower left of center
stack)

20) hold up main center trim surround to where it goes and reattach air bag
switch. The tuck air bag switch wires back to the left of the air vent as you
put the center trim back on. push and snap it back on. The lower left corner
is the biggest bitch to snap back on so try to support it from the back.

21) reverse the rest of the process and make sure to reattach the hood release
cable.

Hope this helps. Hit me back on my guestbook if you've got any ?'s or if this helped.

Night Shot
(the glow in front of the truck is my headlights shining up at the fog. I was offroading and parked on a STEEP hill with my lights lighting up the sky)
