!!! WHAT HAPPENED !!!
My spoon b16 died during a track day here in Italy.
Cause of death was the abnormal comsumption of camshafts.
When i bought them there was a fault on the superficial treatment. I had them to be fixed... but it looks like this was not enough. Pieces (of camshaft) went all over the head... and... well, everything screw up.

What about now ?

well... i had to give up about my glorious project of an awesome b16... my motor was going REALLY fast before dying... it run well over 200hp at dyno... my ek4 was going exactly like the new EP3 civic (2000c - 200hp) on the racetrack.
I bought an used B18c6 ... now i'm driving an hybrid :(
I still have my spoon exhaust, the spoon air filter, spoon flywheel... but i can't use any of the internals nor the ecu (it was a b16 one).
What can i say ? It goes... almost like the old engine... maybe a little faster... but i miss the old one. That was MY engine. this is just another hybrid. Bah.

PHILOSOPHY of tuning

Tuning MUST mean upgrade. there is NO use in modifying a car to make it a WORSE car. Car need to handle better, stop better, run faster.
Thus you will never find things like NEON, fancy bodykits or other unuseful things in those pages.
I prefer an anonymous car which runs goes like a thunder on the race track than a F&F looking car which loses 1sec in 0-100km/h.

void_ek4's 1995 Honda Civic

When tuning your car always focus on total balance, power is a consequence.

To not trash your money, always remember that every single step you take modifying your car should be considered from the fartest point of view, there is NO single component you should change alone. Everything is connected, everything has to be changed accordingly.

Do not ruin your car with half modifications.
If you want to gain something, change everything.

void_ek4's 1995 Honda Civic

Total balance means you have to choose.
You have to choose what you want from your car, then you have to change things in an harmonic way. Rarely you will be able to combine different compoents from different brands in an equilibrate way. This is why i choose SPOON SPORTS.
I choose the same "dream" as Spoon Sports, a highly tuned street car, fast but usable for the "everyday ride".
You can build a faster car, you can swap with a B18type-r or B18c6, i choosed to try to express the best my b16a2 can.

NOTE:
NEVER BELIEVE at incredible power gains.
On a naturally aspirated engine (which already express 100hp/l ratio) gaining a single HP means to spend A LOT and change A LOT MORE.
Honda B series are awesome engines, every single modification which is made without knowing what to do leads (in most cases) to a power loss.
DO NOT modify your car with a particular component because you see that "everyone" does that mod too... everyone IS WRONG unless you prove the gain with your own eyes (and track times).
The best example of the last advice is the "direct air intake". They SUCK, the ALL suck. Best way to give air to your engine is a well sized airbox with a good filtering surface. Direct air intakes loose too much power due to heat.

WOW!!! You said a mouthful!!! Now a-days, "tuner car" owners are into big body kits, and neon lighting. WTF? Where did the real tuner cars go?? Finally When I went to look at the Civics on cardomain, I found real tuner cars!! The owners here on car domain actually know what to do with their car. Your tuning philosophy is exactly what I would do with my Civic. I am hopefully going to buy a 89-94 Civic hatch and make it my "little" project for the upcoming years until Im 16. I will be working, so I will have enough money to buy the parts I want. My plans are... Buying a b16b porting and polishing it, getting all new internals, and finally hitting it off with a t3/t4 turbo kit. Then I get one of those N1 pipes and headers and that will be good for the engine. I plan on suspension, interior and small exterior tuning. I want my car to be streetable and extremely fast when I want it to be. It will be alot of work, but it'll be worth it. Hondas are great cars, but people have degraded it with phony parts. Your car is what a true car should look like. That car is amazing!!
