I picked up my 84 Celica (RWD baby!) for 500 dollars, about a month ago. I have determined that I'll be trying to restore it to it's "former glory".

Speaking of which I learned today, after looking at another 84GT, that my Celie, even though rusted, does kick a lot of ass. Apparently mine has premium seats, wheels, and flared out fenders, all of which were not standard features. woot

Woooo! Updates at last, pictures later, but updates none the less.
-I replaced the chipped tail light
-The tailpipe straight fell off (well, was kicked off by your's truely) on a trip to New Jersey. Had that replaced with a shiney new chrome tailpipe.
-I fixed the hatch, it opens from the inside switch, but I need to take it to a locksmith to get a new key made for it.
-I've had the oil changed and passed Virginia State Inspection
-I picked up three new washer pumps from random 80's Toyotas. With a little bit of wire splicing, hopefully one of them will work, thus fixing the winsheild washer problem
-One of my belts is wearing down, and makes a rediculously loud squeely noise at low RPMs. I'm getting that replaced probably sometime in the next week or two.
----------------------------------------
The only thing that would be holding me back from doing this is if the rust is too bad to be worth the money I would have to sink into it. In which case the hunt is on for an early 80's era Celica in decent body condtion. Because in the month that I've been driving this car I've fallen in love with Celicas. So there it is. First we'll start off with a few "glamour shots"

That looks like my GTS except I have no rust, but my dash is sun toasted, not as nice. You can tell if yours is a GTS by looking in the trunk area, if your rear wheel wells have an extra brace coming from the top of the inside well area towrds the floor board and if on the rear of the wheel well you have a strut/shock absober sticking up into the trunk area then you have a GTS which has independant rear suspension,Supra interior and the flared wheel wells. Another obvious way to tell is to look under the hood, do you see RA65-&OTHER NUMBERS ? If so it's a GTS. Keep it and fix er up.The GT I believe is an RA64-model.
