Here is a prime example of why old people need to have regular mandatory driving tests...
Overview of the morning:
9:30 am "1" - Leave home for work. I travel on 3 major interstates in my 30 minute commute to work. First off is I-85. While traveling in the fast lane, I encounter a woman in a 4-door Honda reading a book and sipping coffee, I say encounter because when she came up on the rear end of the vehicle in front of her, she immediately wanted my lane. I proceed to move as far left as I can without hitting the wall, while blaring my wimpy Saturn horn, however, it does the trick, she moves back into her lane and flicks me off... dumb@$$...
9:43ish am "2" - I am merging onto I-285, a tractor trailer needs the lane I'm in... I don't argue, Saturn's plastic panels don't bounce that well... 2nd wreck avoided...
9:48 am "Third Time's The Charm" - In slow lane of I-285 approximately 3/4 mile from the I-75 off ramp. I can see a Green Pontiac Montana minivan ahead and to the left of me two lanes over start a lane change, however, it is moving slower than me, but in range of sight, I proceed on my course. Aforementioned minivan continues rapid lane change into my lane while I am beside said minivan. Minivan proceeds to hit me in the driver's side rear quarter from the front of my rear wheel back. Driver stated that "he just didn't see me there".
The following are the results of the stupid aformentioned minivan hitting me. While the damage does not look so bad, keep in mind that most of the time, Saturn's bounce-back plastic panels do a good job of bouncing-back to their original shape. However, when they don't, they must be completely replaced, so I must replace the following:
1 Driver's Side Rear Quarter Panel
1 Driver's Side TailLight Assembly
1 Trunk Lid (Maybe I can get the carbon fiber one I found. Hehe...)
1 Rear Bumper
1 Konig Blatant 17" Rim (Does not have bounce-back technology or scratch-proofing... damn...)
Why couldn't have the damage been so minor on my car?!
