UPDATE - OCTOBER 3, 2009: The car turned 300,000 miles today (that's 482,700 kilometers for you non-Americans...). Quite a milestone for any car. I've got a brief video at YouTube that shows the odometer turning from 299,999 to 300,000; view it at:

August 2004 - After a few years of being Audi-less, I am now the proud owner of a 1990 Audi 100. Affectionally dubbed the "purple slug" by the previous owner (my brother), it took me 4 days (2,200 miles) to drive the car from Seattle to Dallas (it ran just fine and didn't eat a single drop of oil!).
The car is pretty much stock, except for a lowered suspension, nicer wheels and European-spec headlamps and window tinting (which is a necessity here in Dallas, Texas).
I have also created a book that tells the fascinating history of Audi; it is a self-running ebook (on cd-rom). For more info:

Brief update: January 2009: the car now has over 295,000 miles on it and still runs & looks good!
September 12, 2009: The car now has 299,382 miles on it (see picture above)

Shouldn't all 19+ year old interiors at 299,000 miles look this good? The quality of the seat fabric is incredible ... no cracks in the dashboard (ok, the floor mat could have used some minor vacuuming before I took this picture...). The only issue I'm having is that the headliner is coming loose from the foam backing, noticeable especially at the rear window.... Unfortunately Audi no longer sells the headliner...
Do you like your car enough to put it on a postage stamp? The US Postal Service allows you to put your vehicle on stamps that are legal postage in the USA (see a bunch more photostamps at www.photostamps.webs.com - scroll down a bit to see the various Audi stamps...)
This car was also built in China. Audi has had a factory for many years there, originally building the 100 series, and now the A6 series! This is a commemorative postal stationery card issued by the Chinese postal service.
