also check out: http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=groups.groupProfile&groupID=103227108 ok, here is my truck, its in pretty good shape for its age. there is a picture of the dash board behind the steering wheel.
i dont have a tach, i have 4 guages, FUEL, AMP, OIL and TEMP. if i had the stock tach, i would have OIL and AMP indicator lights and a TEMP and FUEL guage. technically i have a display window with a seat belt warning light, brake warning light, 4x4 indicator light, low range 4x4 indicator light, water in fuel warning light (diesel only), emissions maintenance warning light, check engine light and a low engine oil warning light. but only the "SEAT BELT", "BRAKE", "EMISS" AND "CHECK OIL" lights are functional in my truck for obvious reasons. i thought about getting a factory tach but i like my guages. then i thought about getting the factory tach and special fit the 2 missing guages in or just leave the indicator lights. then i figured i would just get a single tach and put under the center of the dash, but i couldnt find the tach wires to hook it up. but anyways, why do they have an emissions light and check engine light window molded into my display, but only use one? and why cant i have a water in fuel light on a gasoline engine?
i have the wood grain dash bezel which i think only came with the xlt model? maybe the xl also???
i have a non-tilt, non-cruise control steering wheel/ column.
on the left of the picture is the light switch. you pull it out to put on the lights turn it to adjust the dash lights and turn it all the way to the right to turn on the interior/ cargo lights.
on the right of the picture is the cigarette lighter. i dont smoke but i think its a great option. if you get stranded, you could use it to start a fire and the outlet is very useful, it works as a power source for many things.
My wheels look nice, I got new tires and painted the rims around June 2003. the tires are "MASTERCRAFT COURSER HTR" P205/75R14 (same size as original tires). the rims are the black and silver two-tone stock steel rims that came on an 87 xlt ranger along with aluminum trim rings and lug nut exposed hub caps.
look at the next picture. i like the way this vehicle looks, solid, bulky and classic. it makes me feel proud.
these pictures arn't the greatest. the first one shows my interior. the seats lok like crap but i recently found the same ones at a junk yard in very good condition. i should post a new picture.
the next picture shows a side view of my passenger side.
i have the original carpet and it still looks great, expecially in that area.
the stick shift knob was changed around spring 2004. the stick shift assembly was replaced at about 60,000 miles. i heard they wear out every so often on the TK5 transmission.
that is the original door panel, the door handle/ arm rest was replaced, they all seem to fall apart after a while. if you need one, try ebay or a junk yard, these and other parts for this vehicle are pretty cheap, usually.
the stereo is original type and works fine. the climate control levers need oiling and adjusting every now and then.
