New Sound System & Trunk Install

My Son runs Phoenix Audio here in NZ and has developed a new Soundsystem for the old cars, The old original radio Controls & charges an Ipod. The system runs through two 4-Channel AMPS (150W RMS x4 and 100WRMS X4 for a total of 1000W RMS!), hooked up to Infinity perfect 5.1 components in custom made fiberglass kickpanels, Infinity 5x7 center, Infinity 6x9's hidden in the parcel shelf and 2 boxes either side of the boot (we call the trunk a boot in NZ) each containing Infinity 6-1/2" component and 10" Sub. Yes its very loud! and super clear too, not a boom box system although it can pump out the bass if you want it too.

The Original Radio

Before it was installed we striped off any surface rust that was in the boot area and treated with a product here in NZ called RIPO by Altex Coatings (We did my fathers 56 country sedan in it 35 years ago and that car is still as good as the day we did it!)
It was then painted with a paint that is much the same as the old ford primer red that NOS panels come in. (also made by Altex in Tauranga)

Got it everywhere with a brush (when dry it settles out and looks like it was sprayed) so it wont rust for the next 40years, Thats the panel behind the back window.

Its all construted with 6mm thick MDF which was all varnished before it was installed so it doesnt warp with moisture.

The Spare tire lit up at nite. Its a Crager 14x6"rim.. The lights un-bolt from the rear of the rim if the spare is needed. Its hard to see in this picture but there's a Fairlane badge on the perspex.

There's compartments on both sides here at the back and 2 either side of the spare wheel (fits a trolley jack and wheel brace down there also toolbox etc!)
