This page is of the car before, during and after repainting.

That is the original Chestnut paint in comparison to the new Russet Sunfire color. When it was painted in the states they didnt remove the trim! Al least it was nice and clean with no rust.

In behind the drivers Fender all original paint, I ground the rails back to bare metal and found no rust there either then repainted them again.

Ground and sanded the inside of the doors back to bare metal, rust treated, painted, sounddeadend then painted again.

Passenger door, I just buffed up the original paint and it came up like new, the top door panel part needs repainting though.

The rear panel cleaned up, I ground back to bare metal in a few places but left most of the original paint because there was nothing wrong with it (was even still shiney before I sanded it!).

Another shot of the rear, there was alot of dirt in behind the trim but after cleaning it up I was surprised to find ZERO rust.

I cleaned, and painted inside the Fenders and wheelarches. (Since this photo was taken (2yrs later) its been striped to bare metal, sandblasted, painted, undersealed and painted again.

The whole radiator panel was taken back to bare metal and repainted, no rust there either. The engine bay was also done but earlier when the new motor was put in.

Some of the trim going back on after the paint was finished.

Nice shiny new base coat/clear coat paint, the clear is PPG's new formula, it's much better than the old clear, it doesnt seem to get as many stone chips.

The perfect original tail light, note the small lumps to the right of the bottom screw? They are not rust but weld from when the NOS quarter panel was put on, I chose not to grind it smooth because the trim covers it.

Just starting to put the side trim back on.

This pic is a bit blurry but shows how the paint changes colour.

Close up of the trim being put back on with new clips all round.

Nice mint trim and shiny new paint.

The rear end all back together exept for the little cast peices on the ends of the fins. I still have to repaint all those little black lines, that's a job im not looking forward to!

The car in the Parade at Whangamata Beach Hop 2007.

In the parade again, (When this pic was taken the rear suspension was stock, the boot was full of beers and 7 people in the car! It now sits this low with 2 people in the car but doesn't go much lower with 7 ppl in ie its still safe to drive.)

Really a shame about your bad lu8ck with the Air Ride setup. The car is lookin' great! Five stars to ya...come check out my '63. Redid the trunk w/ new upholstery. Winter projects include new front end, the bump steer is driving me crazy. Later

That's a nice and sweet classic '63! Those early 60's Fairlanes are a blast! I love the way you've done the interior and the trunk, gave me some ideas on my wagon...lol. Very cool ride! Great works done too. Definitely 5 BIG stars and 2 thumbs up for you there, brother! Cheers!!!
