orange65tbird's 1963 Ford Fairlane

The Motor a 248CI (3.9L or 3966cc) was fully rebuilt by Te Puke Auto Machinists in 2006. It was built for a stock car, however I took the wild cam out and replaced it with an almost standard cam.

Its got:

289 heads (with hardend valve seats for our unleaded gas in NZ), 221 crank, Edelbrock performer rpm aluminium 4brl intake manifold with a phenolic spacer, 390 CFM Holley 4brl, Melling high volume oil pump, holly fuel pump, alloy valve covers, alloy water pump, 105 Amp chrome alternator and a Mallory Electronic distributor.

The Gearbox, a C4 3 speed Auto was rebuilt by the ledgendary Chuck Mann of Rotorua V8 Performance. Its been shift kited (Not a harsh change though), has a slightly higher stall TC.

Also the radiator was recored and is now a 3 core, will idle all day without overheating.

While the motor was out I striped the engine bay back to bare metal and repainted it with a gloss black industial paint. Also had the underside of the bonnet (Hood for you americans) resprayed.

Really a shame about your bad lu8ck with the Air Ride setup. The car is lookin' great! Five stars to ya...come check out my '63. Redid the trunk w/ new upholstery. Winter projects include new front end, the bump steer is driving me crazy. Later

That's a nice and sweet classic '63! Those early 60's Fairlanes are a blast! I love the way you've done the interior and the trunk, gave me some ideas on my wagon...lol. Very cool ride! Great works done too. Definitely 5 BIG stars and 2 thumbs up for you there, brother! Cheers!!!
