RedraifExtras's 1987 Pontiac FirebirdEXTREME PORTING: LOWER RUNNERS (INTAKE BASE)
************************************************************************************************************************

After taking a really good look at the gasket match ported intake I could see quite a few areas I could port a bit further to really open things up for the Truleo air flow... After seeing these areas I knew I had alot more port work ahead of me! Since I had previously done a gasket match port job on them and was only going to open them up a little further, I hoped I would not be porting for days, but I was wrong.... Another 17 hours!

Well as you compare the 2 following pictures, you can see how they still have alot of material in the lower corners of the the port track that could be ported & feathered further...
You can see how I mildly feathered the intake edge to the port the first time. Now all this was going to go!

Extreme porting begins...
**************************************************

I began this project at the end of the track with the most important surface... the intake to head surface... I again laid down the new trimmed gaskets to try and get a good marked surface to guide my new port matching!

Comparisons...
**************************************************

Pics of the top surface of the runners...
**Note**
In these pics... you will see a decent difference in the stock to Gasket match, but not the gasket match to extreme. I have yet to port the truleo intake to match the lower base runners... so I left this surface as it was!

this is the best most informative site on cardomain.com ive ever been on! i love pontiacs and i own a 94 Grand Prix you should come check out sometime. I definately think that u should make ur own site for this generation of Firebirds! Great job on the car, and the hood looks good, ive seen a couple Grand Prix's in the 92-96 gen. that molded the RAM II scoops to the hood and made it look nice, i think someday im going to do the same! PS i had to add u to my friends so i can come back to the site all week at work just to read it all!
