PF & E HEADERS & Y-PIPE
****************************************

I finally found someone who made good looking functional headers and y-pipe for the 3rd gen with a 2.8, 3.1 or 3.4L motor. PF&E (586-949-3400) sold me there first set of headers and the prototype y-pipe. My existing exhaust was moved slightly when the subframe connectors were installed, so I took the car to the exhaust shop to have them fix the y-pipe so it would go to my exhaust.
Here is a pic I got off the internet of the system uninstalled

I just noticed when I look at the pic now how the collectors seem much larger then the y-pipe tubing... esp apparent in this pic on the passenger side... glad I upgraded... more on this below
Here is the pic of my upgraded y-pipe mated to the collector.

A shot inside the collectors...

Just had them off while we were doing some repainting on the car...

Dyno run...
****************************************

Dyno run after installing new PF&E headers.
Up by 4hp
Down by 5.1ftlbs TQ!

Something was not right here... we wondered if they were too small...

************************************************************************************************************************
Upgrading to 3in system...
************************************************************************************************************************

Now when I redid my exhaust to 3in, I also had the guy remake the y-pipe. He increased the y-pipe to 2 2.5 inch pipes to a 3in collector to a single 3in pipe. You can find the results by following the above link.

Some pics with the new tubular K-member... you can see the drivers side collector and how it is better matched in size to the new y-pipe.

OLD 2.5 in CUT OUT
****************************************

Now while at the exhaust shop I had them install a 2.5 inch cut out before my cat with the 2.25in exhaust!

Wow on the hp#s cutout gave: 8.2hp
Got some of the torque back cutout gave: 4.3ft-lbs. You can sooo feel the difference on the road too! Can you say way too restrictive exhaust! And if you look close you can see the kink bending they used that was restrictive all by itself! So imagine the difference the mandrel bent version in 3in did!

NEW 3in CUT OUT
****************************************

Check out page 19 for the results of the 3in exhaust upgrade...

Here are some pics of the new 3in cut out!

Cleaning them up!
****************************************
After having the system on a while and after upgrading to the 3in, the headers were looking a bit rough... so when we repainted the engine bay, the headers were cleaned up...

Joe did a quick polish and I painted the collector ends and flanges...

this is the best most informative site on cardomain.com ive ever been on! i love pontiacs and i own a 94 Grand Prix you should come check out sometime. I definately think that u should make ur own site for this generation of Firebirds! Great job on the car, and the hood looks good, ive seen a couple Grand Prix's in the 92-96 gen. that molded the RAM II scoops to the hood and made it look nice, i think someday im going to do the same! PS i had to add u to my friends so i can come back to the site all week at work just to read it all!
