This particular page is dedicated to the performance modifications of RAIF's V-6 & drivetrain.

The site details all the engine & drivetrain performance modifications & upgrades that have been done to RAIF from the beginning with the 2.8L, thru the 3.4L, & up to what I have planned in the future! I tried to organize the site chronologically to help people see the upgrades as we went along and what the dyno and track runs were around that time. All to help show what mods did what at the time.

You can follow the generized links in the directory at the bottom of the page to find info on the modification of your choice. You may also use the specific links in the following modification list!

In an attempt to keep my sites @ a reasonable size, I have created multiple CarDomain sites, each dealing with a single aspect of the car. If you want to see more aspects of the car not discussed here, please click the HOME link at the bottom of any of the pages. This link will reroute you to my main site which will guide you thru all my sites.

Basically over the years the engine had been maintained by mechanics at various shops. Then due to a blocked oil bearing, the engine had its bottom end rebuilt with a new crack shaft. The dealer did the rebuild, so it was kept stock. All was seemingly well. Oddly, once I met Joe and started to tackle some upgrades, they hardly helped the car at all. We were close to giving up when I got the real answer to my questions...

In 2003, I worked for the very dealership that rebuilt my bottom end. It was during my employment I learned the truth about the first bottom end rebuild. A mechanic named Luke, who used to work there when the repair was done to my car, came by to visit some buddies who still worked there. He and I got to talking. He told me what he remembered about the rebuild that Glenn did on my 2.8. None of the mechanics thought the engine was rebuildable, but Glenn insisted. Instead of being honest, the mechanic decided he could make more $ on a rebuild than a swap. So I was told there was no way to get a 2.8 f-body block...I even asked for a bigger v-6 that would work! Turns out they could have put in a 3.4 from the get go! Dealers!

When Glenn rebuilt it they all told him it would be back! The motor was a time bomb and totally out of balance. They were amazed it even ran! So exactly a year later, after Glenn was mysteriously no longer employed, the engine did go. Brent then rebuilt it the 2nd time. He got it in better shape and the repair lasted. He told me it never should have been rebuilt the first time, but his hands were now tied. All he was allowed to do was fix it, even though he felt a whole new block should have been dropped in. Brent answered all my questions and explained any repair he did, so that I understood. Its thanks to him that I began tackling my own engine mods.

So long story short, once I had all the information, I then knew why the engine shook like it did and never seemed to be able to make any decent power... why mod after mod never produced the power it should have. So soon after this discovery, the 2.8 block came out and was replaced by a 3.4L block out of a 95 Camaro.

this is the best most informative site on cardomain.com ive ever been on! i love pontiacs and i own a 94 Grand Prix you should come check out sometime. I definately think that u should make ur own site for this generation of Firebirds! Great job on the car, and the hood looks good, ive seen a couple Grand Prix's in the 92-96 gen. that molded the RAM II scoops to the hood and made it look nice, i think someday im going to do the same! PS i had to add u to my friends so i can come back to the site all week at work just to read it all!
