This project started in 1997 to build up my 66 2+2 to go Open Tracking, maybe a car show or two and just to have a Fun car to drive on a nice afternoon. Sometimes I think I've gone overboard (ok, way...way overboard) but it sure has been a great learning experience and has been a lot of fun too. The work was completed (if you can ever say that!) in 2005.

Major thanks to my wife Deb, she put up with alot of headaches over the build! Couldn't have done it without her.

This is what it looked like in 1994 when I bought it. It had a lot of potential, just needed a massive amount of TLC!

4/97 The first month of work and some of the paint has been removed. Sure was a lot of filler.....everywhere!

The car has been on and off the rotisserie , sandblasted (Man that's a hot sucky job!), stripped and the front end forward of the shock towers removed. Now it's time to start welding back all the new parts.

Here's the car back on the rotisserie after replacing all the sheet metal forward of the shock towers, partial floor pan replacement, drivers rear 1/4 panel, pass rear 1/4 lower patch panel, both rear inner wheel panels, rear taillight panel, rear deck lid and both doors. Thanks to my friend John Poole for the expert help in making the body look good!

New front suspension and brakes. Relocated Shelby drop, 12" disc setup,Koni adj shocks, Dbl roller spring perches(from John@Opentracker Racing Products), roller bearing idler arm and adj. strut rods from Street or Track.

The finished engine & tranny ready to install. See pg 2 for the specs.

The engine finally back home!! Thanks to my BIL Bill Hirschi for helping me wire the car....color blind and electrical wire makes for a tough job without alot of help!

Just finished painting PPG BC/CC Silver-Blue (Factory color). It took longer to turn the garage into a paint booth than to lay the paint down :-)

After days of wet sanding, I just need to buff it out!

First time at a "real" drag strip, April 4, 2008 at Heartland Park Topeka. I ran on my Hoosier R6 track tires, not the best for grip! The car just spun all through 1st gear (poor driver), but hooked really well in 2nd.
