GLI's vs. GLS's....I'm not really sure. I think that GLI's usually come with the leather and the VR6 options and the GLS's are usually cloth and 1.8T option. Now obviously I have a special edition GLI where the leather has been swapped for Recaro's and the 1.8T over VR6 (sportier engine). From my understand the 1.8T, although 20 less horses, out does the VR6. Apparently it's peppier off of the line and through the torque curve. So, VW mating the GLI with the Recaro sport seats and the 1.8T would certainly make sense. however, my knowledge is that GLI's usually come with leather and the V6, with those few exceptions such as mine.
