Check out my other site for the 924s, this will have great detail of the major changes coming may! My 924s Web Page!!!

Hey, this is my 1988 porsche 924s. I wish the pictures could be better than they are at the moment, but unfortunately I do not have a digital camera. This car new ran at about 160hp, as to date I take the liberty of saying that she is at about 175 because of the minor performance upgrades I have added to her. So far the list includes a Weltmeister Throttle Response Cam (they say its only for 944s, but anybody with a 924 that has the 2.5L engine, it WILL work) I also have installed a racing/performance chip (I have yet to really feel the difference, I should have gotten the Authority one on ebay!) and last and least a K&N Filter.

So far the list of performance upgrades is short, but that will all change come May, so make sure to be checking back for lots of pictures. The reason for this is my senior project. My school lets me out for 3 weeks (in May) to work on whatever I want to. So I chose to work on my car. Upgrades include a Racing Cam from www.webcamshafts.com (anyone who has any advice on which one to get, dont hesitate to sign the guestbook with your opinion) an Exhaust Cut-Out offered from 9xauto. (Ive heard 9xauto sucks, but they are the only ones to offer it) The Exhaust Cut-Out allows me to bypass the exhaust system and to let it all out fast and unrestricted. It has a switch, which will be located on the dash center consol, which allows me to change from soft to loud, slow to fast, all for my racing needs! The last upgrade, which may have some of you cringing, is a Zex Dry Nitrous System with their Ejector air amplifier. So a 75 shot of nitrous is shot through their cone air intake and straight down the cars throat. This acts as a mini turbo/super charger. From the carburetor to the cone and air sensor Im going to take out the black rubber tube and replace it with one that wont slow down the airflow. (it has those ridges which will restrict air and defiantly the NOS)

As for other things that I have done, I went through a stage where it was all about getting my car noticed, and what would be better than some neon and lights. Well I defiantly went overboard, because now the car glows even more than those of Fast and the Furious. I will add pictures soon. (I got to get the camera developed)

That is a job very well done, so, WELL DONE!!
I have a question - I recently bought a 924 (non turbo) because, well it was cheap and retro. And it was a Porsche of course!
I'm happy with it and it's making good progress in my restoration project (before and after pics will be posted once I've managed to get to the AFTER stage...), however it simply doesn't perform like the 944, obviously with it being a 2.0 litre and not a turbo.
So my question is - what can you do to give the 924 a bit of hp? What is the most cost effective way, seeing as for under 1000 extra will get you a 944 anyway.

Is it possible to fit a 944 engine to a 924?

Thanks, I'm ever hopeful...

Nice, clean car, wish my paint was in that kind of shape. As for mods, check out my page for what I've done with some pretty nice results. I, too have looked into nitrous and found out some scary things. The guys at Lindsey Racing told me you really need to install turbo connecting rods, the NA rods won't handle the nitrous. So I was thinking a 50hp shot wouldn't be too bad till my friend who builds hot rod v8's told me nitro systems are based on an 8:1 compression ratio and that they increase exponentially with every half of a point of compression, so on an engine like ours that 50 shot would equal like a 150 hp shot which goes back to the con rod issue. Anyway, I'd definately check these things out a whole bunch before I bought anything. The guys at Lindsey racing are helpful and know their stuff, they do it for a living so you might contact them. Good luck!

Hows it going? I think, if you really want to up the horsepower, you should talk to someone who might know more about upgrades. You can do things such as balancing all of the components, which doesn't cost much, but can be affective. Also, your car is nice. Im not sure what it sounds like, but to make it sound really sporty, and up the horsepower quite a bit, install a sports exaust. They can be a little pricey though. Hope this is some useful advise.

Sorry about the delayed response... My nose panel came off with a few bolts and screws. It shouldn't have any welds involved. Two of the plastic vents on the outside had to be modified (ie. notched slightly) to fit in correctly but otherwise this one was cake. As far as "bang for the buck",I highly recommend the nose panel swap. Cost: @$400.
