CAR + COMPUTER = Carputer!

This is what my dashboard used to look like before I started all my modifications:

This is what the concept photo had it looking like:

Now the fun part... I changed the dashboard color to Agate just because it looks better..

Robbldel's 2001 Jeep TJ I ripped out the passenger side airbag and made room for the computer.
This is a vibration plate I built out of some aluminum

Robbldel's 2001 Jeep TJ You will notice the flexibility of the vibration dampners.. you would not belive how much the carputer actually bounces from normal road vibrations.. just think of what it would do to the hardware if this was just bolted straight to the car.
This is the computer mounted on the vibration plate Robbldel's 2001 Jeep TJ
Robbldel's 2001 Jeep TJ I drilled extra holes in the case for air flow. The yellow and black wires you see coming out of the center of the case is the regulated 12v supply for the monitor. If you hook a monitor directly up to the vehicle, it will spike and eventually screw up your monitor, doing it this way is ALOT safer!
This is where I was trying to figure out how to mount this big ass monitor with my center bezel. I did have to cut out the top two vents, but it wasnt a big deal. More air will come out of the side vents when I decide to block the center.Robbldel's 2001 Jeep TJ

I went out and got some really light plywood and simply masked over the original consol.
In this picture, you can see how I just attached the plywood to the center console. Robbldel's 2001 Jeep TJ

It took me no time at all to rip out the airbag

Foolish you say...

A) your're in a jeep...
B) it is very open if you hadn't noticed..
C)you have your seatbelt and GOD. The airbag isn't going to do crap for you.

The only thing foolish is I didn't sell it on eBay and chucked it!
