These are pics of the final few days before the initial start up. I was R&R ing the motor for final fitment of the motor plates (front and mid). I pulled the headers off and stuffed rags in the exhaust ports while I welded the mounts to the frame and drilled the holes.

After getting the motor bolted in, I started trying to figure out how to mount the radiator. The best solution I could come up with was to cut out the radiator support and rebuild it. This idea came about from an e-mail I received that showed pics of a similar setup. I got the radiator mounts from a junk yard. They are the passenger side off a mid 90's Crown Vic. To move the radiator further from the motor, I cut and rewelded both of them.

This picture shows how everything ended up. I have about 3/8" of clearance between the alternator pulley and fan 'frame'. Since the motor is mounted with a motor plate, I'm not too worried about anything moving enough to cause contact here. If I was using motor mounts, I would have re-mounted the alternator.

this is a bigblock 460? did you have to do any cutting other than on the k-member and radiator support? i am thinking about doing a similar build on a 98 v6, and would like to know what kind of cutting i am getting myself into, think i can handle the radiator support to clear the radiator, and maybe i wont have to comsidering it will be a full blown dragster and wont need one that big. would appreciate a reply, and dude, thats an awesome stang...

Hey awesome project man! You should just throw a cowl hood on instead of the stock one. It'd look sick!
