Well here she is, my 86' Camaro that I've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into (not to mention money!) I purchased it as my first car my senior year in high school, and never intended to do much with it aside from routine upkeep. The thrill of being 17 and having a sports car was priceless; who can forget the surge of adrenaline that one feels when they first turn the ignition and hear the throaty V8 rumble beneath them? My love for the car was enough to ignore the dents, leaky t-tops, and rust patches. If something wasn't working I didn't worry about it because I just couldn't afford it.
Then in spring of 2004, I took some time off from college and worked. I signed up on a few message boards and filled my head with knowledge on these cars, and shortly after I became inspired enough to start my own creation. One year later, I went from a faded, dented bone stock ride into nearly a show car. It's been in video's, calendars, ebay (as someone else's car), and I still feel it's unfinished! The response the car has gotten is wonderful, and though it's due for a new engine, it will have to wait until I finish graduate school.
I hope you enjoy it, the unofficial list of mods are at the bottom of this page...and is bound to change a lot! Thanks so much for voting, those that do, and thanks to everyone for looking!
SUNSET/NIGHT SHOTS
These are shots taken later in the day, and are always a blast to take. The paint glitters and glows different shades
UNOFFICIAL LIST OF MODS
*The paint is a true Tri-stage Candy Apple Red from HOK, that still blows me away when I walk up to the car.
*Many people are indifferent about the hood, but I put on the RAII hood on after growing bored of the stock flat hood. It adds a look to the car that gives it more edge, and is complimented (and balanced out) by Hawks 5in. spoiler in the back.
*The wheels are Boyd Coddington 'Hotrods' 18x8 up front and 18x10 rear with 235/40 in front and 285/35 rear Falken 452 tires.
*Suspension has been replaced with Eibach Prokit springs, Blistein HD shocks and struts, Spohn Wonderbar/sway bars/LCAs/and LCA relocation brackets, a BMR adjustable Panhard rod. Also Spohn subframe connectors were welded into the car to help keep the frame straight.
* The doors have shaved locks and handles and are opened via buttons on my keychain. The shaved door handle kit is from VPA.
* The interior is from an 2002 Trans Am consisting of full-power leather seats, and 4th gen center console as well (giving the car the option of cupholders).
*An open-element air filter from K&N replaces the stock filter system
*Exhaust is a combination of Hedman headers, and Edlebrock cat-back exhaust
*Clear Sidemarkers, mesh grille inserts, and a load of other small changes!
*Everything but the paint and wheel builds was done by me - more or less through the process of trial and error. It was an attempt to mix a new look on a classic muscle car (third gens) that is often stereotyped and disrespected. This is my attempt to disprove those claims, and show that one doesn't need to spend $50,000 to have a car people stare at!
