RedraifExtras's 1987 Pontiac FirebirdFRONT SEATBELTS

Another item that brought the interior together was the addition of the 91-92 bright red Camaro interior seatbelts.

I had tried to get my hands on a new set, but the price was ridiculous. So I looked second hand. Well the black ones were all faded. Finally I found a good set of red ones on EBay, so I went for it!

Now the only real problem with them was that the plastic stabilizer for the front receptacles was broken on both frt. pieces.

Well I had an idea. I went to GM they had none for sale in red separate, so I decided to mix & match. I had a set of black seatbelts I had gotten from Pull-A-Part that ended up too faded to use. So I decided to use their stabilizer. I looked to see what held them on the belt and then I saw the dimple in the plastic case.

Well I used my knife to pry the belt loose of the plastic stabilizer shield

It worked. I swapped the red receptacle into the black shield...

REAR SEATBELTS

Now these are going to be trickier. The 91-92 Style seat belts are over the shoulder style belts. They had a special mounting are that was built into the rear plastic cargo panels,

as well as a special mounting bracket that was welded in this are to the rear wheel well.

I was able to retrieve a set of brackets from car in a junk yard.

We had to drill out the factory spot welds & pry the suckers out!

Its going to take some work to get them installed in my car. For now I just had to situate the rear belts under the plastic cover till I can get to a welder and have the brackets installed properly.

Here they are in the car.

Thanks for the info on the center console repair. I'm going to give it a shot this weekend. Hope to have my new red and black interior done before winter. Take care
