RedraifExtras's 1987 Pontiac FirebirdGAUGE CLUSTER
************************************************************************************************************************

Well this is a modification I have wanted to do for a long while now. I really wanted the face of my gauges around the smoked Plexiglas to be a smoothed glossy black. I thought it would really set off the smoked Plexiglas dash inserts. The top ledge & lower ledge I would leave textured & paint a satin black.

So I took the gauge cover out of the car and spent some quality time with it and some sand paper. I used 180 grit to get the texture down. Then followed with 320. Then finished with 600.

Then I washed the piece with dish soap and scuffed the rest of the cover with red scotch brite. Then I began masking, and masking, and masking.

The plexi was again covered in the satin cord to transition the joint b/w the gauge cover and the plexi lens.

Look at the awesome reflections on the sides. Really shows how clean and slick the paint is! Joe did a great job shooting this piece!

Thanks for the info on the center console repair. I'm going to give it a shot this weekend. Hope to have my new red and black interior done before winter. Take care
