NOPI REGIONALS: Snellville, GA. (March)
This was a smaller show. There were no divisions. They gave awards to the top 15 cars. I was one of them.
NOPI REGIONALS: Snellville, GA. (April)
Same as the past show, but I did not get anything this go around. Afterwards I looked at my score sheet and it was as good as before. The judge said he wanted place me again, he loved the car, but he had to spread it around. Politics...
TIGER PAW: Stockbridge, GA. (May)
This was for the top 20. I think it might have been divided into best 5 of 4 categories. Low riders, Trucks, Hot Rods, and Late Models. I'm not sure where I got placed, but I did get a trophy.
NOPI REGIONALS: Snellville, GA. (June)
Top 15 as before, but they had divisions. Trucks, Imports, and Domestics. I got top 5 in the Domestics.
NOPI NATIONALS: Pigeon Forge, TN. (July)
They had this broken down in divisions. I got moved into a different division in this show and almost missed getting my award. I can't remember what I signed up for, but they moved me into a larger category. I ended up with 3rd in the American Car Mild Division.
WHITLEE: Perry, GA. (July ?)
They had divisions based on the model of the car. I first in the 3rd gen. Firebird modified division.
GODFATHER CUSTOMS: Conyers, GA. (August)
I was showing with the primer spots and the unpainted hood. This show was huge. They had top 50 cars and top 50 trucks. I got in the top 50 for cars.
ACFA LABOR DAY SHOW: Fayetteville, GA. (Sept)
I got in the top 100 at this show.
NOPI NATIONALS: Atlanta, GA. (Oct)
I was sure I should be in the mild division this time. I had done so much more to the car. With it shaved and painted, I figured I had a good chance this time. Again I was with all years CAMARO/FIREBIRD Mild. I got 5th out of 21.
I talked to the head guy again to see why I did the same as last year. Again I was the highest-ranking 3rd Gen. He said the judges are just more partial to the newer body style. There are more aftermarket mods available. He said I had done too good of a job making the parts look like they belonged or could have come on the car that way. He said they need to make a 3rd gen. division for next year. Politics at its finest...
