SUBFRAME CONNECTORS
************************************************************************************************************************
The most important upgrade I did was the Spohn rectangular sub frame connectors.
Now their purpose is to tighten up the f-body unibody. In fact there are many V-8 hardtop cars that have actually formed stress fractures at the top corner of the sail panel where it meets the roof and window. The V-8s torque will actually twist the body. The t-top v-8 cars will usually develop leaks due to this same problem.
Well since I have a V-6 I did not have any of those problems yet. But we have talked about more performance upgrades, including turboing the 3.4, or swapping to a 3.8 turbo motor. Either of these upgrades would cause the same stress on the body, so I decided to fix it before it was a problem.
The first thing I noticed was the creaks and rattled decreased significantly! It also makes it so you can jack up the whole side from the sub frame at one time! Just these benefits made it worth it in my book!
Well I got them unpainted and used red to paint them to match the body. Then I took them to my muffler shop for install. They had to buzz off the paint at the mounting points so they could weld them to the frame.
Then we noticed that my exhaust would have to be moved out of the way slightly. A simple cut, turn and reweld fixed it up right!
