98riv's 1998 Buick RivieraPurchased this 1998 Riviera in June of '03 with 24.5k miles and having one previous owner. Interior and exterior were near perfect and the car is still in excellent condition. Paint is slate green metallic - an uncommon color available only for '98-99. Fewer than 11,000 Rivieras were produced in '98, probably less than a thousand were this color.

The car now has over 150k miles. So far have installed a 300 watt custom audio system and have modified the engine to produce around 300 horsepower. The original goal was to make the car a little quicker and more enjoyable, while keeping things looking basically stock. Stayed faithful to the plan for the most part, but perhaps took things a bit far with engine modification. Soon ended up with a tire-smoking monster capable of winning stoplight battles against some very surprising competition. Have at least managed to keep everything looking original, and amazingly the car still gets 31.4 mpg on the highway. Yes, this car is a heavy sleeper to say the least.

I like all the mods but do you feel like you lose reliability? I'm mostly concerned with the transmission. Also what preventative maintenance tricks do you have? My car has 53,000 miles on it and I want to stay ahead of the game. You can use my guestbook or email me at dawgslandscaping@yahoo.com thanks
