Welcome to my page dedicated to the system build up in my 2001 BMW M3 Coupe.

I'll apologize in advance here if you find this site too wordy, but I figure rather then showing some pics, I'll describe why I'm doing things this way - a bit of an install diary if you will.

Regardless, I hope you like it and please feel free to leave any comments.

Here's a table of contents:

Page 1: Car Description & System Layout
Page 2: Head Unit and Processor Install
Page 3: Wiring Details
Page 4: Amplifier Rack
Page 5: Tweeter Installation
Page 6: Midrange Installation
Page 7: Midbass Installation
Page 8: Subwoofer Installation
Page 9: Finished Install Pics
Page 10: Old Subwoofer Installation

For my system, I've chosen the following components:

Head Unit: Alpine DVA-7996
Processor: Alpine PXA-H700
Front Stage: DLS Ultimate Iridium 6.3's
Subwoofers: Image Dynamics IDQ12's
Amplifiers: PPI Art Series A100.2, A200.2, A300.2, and A600.2

Some info on the car:

I bought it used from a car enthusiast who did all of the modifications. The car is a 2001 M3 Coupe - Imola Red on Black leather. It came from the factory with all options but SMG and the Winter Package.

Modifications include Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers, BBS LM's, Supersprint exhaust and tint all around.

Here are a few photos - hopefully I'll have time to get some better ones.

Wow, that is awesome. I'll definitely use this as a guide if I decide to go with the M3 over the 540. I like how the battery is in the trunk. Lookin forward to see the final touches.

The sub box was secured by some brackets from the top of the box to the rail that frames in the fold down rear seat opening. The amp rack was secured using the frame rails that run along the trunk, and the rack was attached to the box with some brackets.
