Mid October, I brought out the Riv for our annual block party. Whoopie, well it was fun for a while. Its ready to be stored for the winter. I will probably drive it one more time to make sure everything is charged and the cleaned out. I have a customer in Rockford that I need to see soon. Maybe I will drive it there. Poor old car, doesn't get used much, but when asked it starts right up and is ready to go.
It is now mid August, I have used the Old Riv to visit friends in Wisconsin and a quick trip to Indiana for a cig run. No Problems. It seems that this is the biggest car on the road these days. Everyone is driving subcompacts, or small SUV's. These days a big car is like a Taurus or an Impala. While physically they are smaller than fullsize cars once were, but they pack on the weight. Can you believe a New Taurus weighs 4000 pounds. This old Riv is about 4300. I guess its all the safety mandates and options that are packing on the pounds.
1972 Riviera by Buick: A Survivor
Oh Hi Everyone. This is my arctic white Riviera. Its pretty much original except for a light repaint sometime during its 36 plus years.
I had the transmission rebuilt in 2008. Actually I think they just took it apart and put new seals in it. The car still runs great but I did not use it much in 2008. Premium gasoline at over $4.00 per gallon and this cars voluminous fuel consumption limited my use to jaunts between Chicago and Indiana. Oh and the 8 track player bit the dust. Too bad, I have a bunch of cool 8 tracks.

Some features;
6 way power driver side.
Delco AM/FM Stereo Radio with 8 track tape player
Automatic Climate Control
PW,PDL, tilt steering wheel and cruise control, LH Remote control mirror. Soft ray tinted glass. Electric clock and speed alert. Sport Wheels.

All Original, and it gets the looks.

Fuel economy; 12 to 15 MPG, maybe with a tail wind or behind a truck. Its more like 8 to 10 on 91 or better.
Estimated top speed; 125 mph, guess what, been there with it.
