Well Spring is right around the corner and the old Riv sat idle for 4 months. I had to use it because my daily drive was in the shop. I was very apprehensive about it even starting. This is a carb engine with an automatic choke and boy the starting sequence is quite different than today's EFI cars. It's hard to coordinate the process, once to the floor and then 1/2 way down as you crank.
Well, lo and behold, he started right up. The choke kicked it and it ran at about 1800 RPM for about 5 minutes. All the moisture that seeped into the exhaust burned out in billowy white clouds. No signs of leakage and away we go. A little dusty but nothing a car wash and some spray wax wont cover. I guess, after and oil change, I will be ready for summer.
1972 Riviera by Buick: A Survivor
Oh Hi Everyone. This is my arctic white Riviera. Its pretty much original except for a light repaint sometime during its 36 plus years.
I had the transmission rebuilt in 2008. Actually I think they just took it apart and put new seals in it. The car still runs great but I did not use it much in 2008. Premium gasoline at over $4.00 per gallon and this cars voluminous fuel consumption limited my use to jaunts between Chicago and Indiana. Oh and the 8 track player bit the dust. Too bad, I have a bunch of cool 8 tracks.
Some features;
6 way power driver side.
Delco AM/FM Stereo Radio with 8 track tape player
Automatic Climate Control
PW,PDL, tilt steering wheel and cruise control, LH Remote control mirror. Soft ray tinted glass. Electric clock and speed alert. Sport Wheels.
All Original, and it gets the looks.
Fuel economy; 12 to 15 MPG, maybe with a tail wind or behind a truck. Its more like 8 to 10 on 91 or better.
Estimated top speed; 125 mph, guess what, been there with it.

Very slick, they look good in white. I just picked up a '73 to use as a DD, and although there's been a few problems, I'm determined to get it on the road more often...5 stars for the white elephant.
Have you noticed in yours that the rear glass is just optically distorted enough to give everything a certain 70s flashback? Cars appear just a little lower and a little wider... *Grins*
