The 87.... little story behind this one as well...

I work at schucks... so i hear a lot of strange things... one of my co-workers buddy had told me there was a Supercharged mr2 nearby that was selling for $400. That day, I set out and we found it... It was an 87 mr2.. NON supercharged... When I mentioned this to the owner, the price changed to $200.... She told me they didn't know what was wrong with it, and that it had been sitting for 4 years.... I left, later on called and offered to take it off their hands for $100. "Drove" it away the next day.

Had a nasty rod knock... got the car about 13 or so miles, and the motor blew... oh well, at least it made it the 13 miles!

Started to pull the car apart. Coolant that came out wasn't quite the right color or viscosity:

so, i kept going (and wasn't looking forward to cleaning out the radiator lines that run through the car), and ripped the head off (good condition... carbon buildup on the valves, but that's the worst)

after removing the metal water lines, I found a ~1" hole in the block between the #2 and #3 pistons.... also, the #2 piston wasn't connected anymore

Oil pan came out, and to my surprise, the oil pickup tube came out with it (mind you... it should be bolted in)... so I'm going to have to go with a gut instinct and say that has something to do with the motor blowing. The pan was full of metal parts as well.

Motor came out just fine... we dropped it out (literally dropped it on the ground).... and again, to my surprise we found another hole on the exhaust side, hidden behind the oil sandwich plate

gonna use the money i sold the 86 mr2 to buy a motor for this one... the plan:

ae101 map based DLI setup 4agze (10psi supercharged) running off of a megasquirt setup. Waiting for the engine importer to get things set. I'm getting the motor/trans at the same time as 3 other guys, so we're getting a discount.

Do you need parts for your first generation mr2 but can't find them anywhere but the dealer? Parts from the dealer are far too expensive! I have a RED 1986 Toyota mr2 with all the stock parts intact and in fair condition. The wheels and cloth seats are in great condition! The only parts I dont have are the front bumper, hood, and left-front fender. If you are interested in purchasing any parts, please contact me at rom3@comcast.net or leave a message on my guest book.
