The sub wasn't put in. After we got back behind the panel, we found out it was the amp that was out and not the sub. So currently I'm matching the right amp with the right sub, and I'm just going to completely redo it.
Here's a shot that shows the deep reflection on the black hood. Not as deep as I want it, but not bad.May 6, 2005:
I found a factory sub unit enclosure/sub/amp to replace mine. I put it in this evening with the help of a neighbor. Sounds pretty good to me and adds some great bass for a little factory 8 inch. I plan on upgrading it later.

Today was a turning point for the Explorer. About a week ago I finally broke down, went to Crutchfield's website, and ordered some awesome gear. My buddy Luke came home with me this weekend and we installed it all today. Here's what I got: a Sony headunit (CDX-M8815X), two pairs of Infinity speakers, and an XM radio kit. The Sony headunit has XM radio control, so it's all fully integrated. We also found out the problem with the factory sub: the previous owner had disconnected it. It was blown, so they just pulled the plug. It was nice to know what the problem with the sub was! All in all, the new setup sounds GREAT! Amazing the difference it makes compared to the factory "premium" sound! I also bought a K&N Air Filter this weekend and installed it as well.

Well it turns out that Best Buy of Douglasville installed the alarm wrong... which caused me to have some major problems, such as four cylinders misfiring. So to say the least I was pretty upset with them. They finally "fixed" the alarm, although it still has some problems. I will be taking that up with them shortly.

Well two days ago (Friday, December 17) I bought the alarm that I've been wanting at Best Buy of Douglasville. It's currently being installed. You can tell I'm a republican: security comes first, lol. It's a Viper Responder System, meaning it's a two way security system with remote start. So if someone messes with my car I'll know and I can come out and kick their butt.

I just added strobe lights in the four corners... I must say, I really like them and they are MUCH brighter than I expected. It did take a while to install them though, considering that it's such a big vehicle. But it's nice to have it done! I'll try to get a picture of that up soon.

I'm buying strobes for my X this week, so hopefully they'll be installed soon. I think after that, I'm probably gonna put one of those DEI Clifford Matrix Security Systems on it. They're really nice two way remote systems.
I think after that I'm gonna put in a new head unit, followed by finally putitng in a new amp and sub. After that I'm gonna put in Infinity Kappas in both the front and back. I just can't stand rolling with factory sound, it's about to drive me crazy.
Somewhere in between there I'll throw in a K & N Air Filter and a bug deflecter. I want to eventually put a Borla exhaust system on it with dual crome pipes coming out of the back.
