Caliper spray-painting made easy

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: 1=Basic knowledge of how to jack up a car, remove the lug nuts and tire, and how-to spray paint.
(Hardest=5 Easiest=0)
TOTAL COST approx.$20

First I would like to say that if you are confused about how to paint calipers or you think that there is some big mystery about how it is done, then forget everything you know.
Painting calipers is just about as easy as tying your shoes. Below is a quick esay way to paint your calipers while providing total protection against over-spray.

The initial step is to gather your tools and equipment....I used "Engine Enamel" to paint the calipers, any high-temperature resistant paint will work (i.e. Engine Enamel, Brake Caliper Paint, or High Temp etc)
I also used a brake parts cleaner which is not required but it is useful, a roll of masking tape, some newspaper, all the tools that come with your car to change to tire or a four-way and a floor jack, and one big-ass box!

First take off your tire after you have jacked up one of your wheels.
Second, tape of all the rubber parts around the brakes (Brake lines, CV boots, caliper grommets etc) after you have provided that neccesary protection for your rubber and plastic parts, spray the brake cleaner on....use as directed.
Now that your brakes are clean tape off the rest off the parts with the newspaper to protect the other parts from over spray. Doing this avoids making it look tacky if half of the sway bar is painted or if the shocks are half over-sprayed.
this also makes it look more sphisticated by giving the impression that the calipers were that color new or that they were taken off to be painted (much more work!)

Third push the box over the rotor and caliper like in the pictures and afix a peice of newspaper to each end of the box, one peice in the wheel well is a second barrier against over-spray that might escape, the second peice on the outside end of the box, will act as a flap,
put it down after each coat to prevent paint from escaping.

Now that the box is in place to protect your car from over-spray and the newspaper is taped up to protect the wheel well components from being half painted, you can go ahead and throw up as many coats as you want and clear-coat if you would care to.

This is also a great oppurtunity to clean and armor-all you wheel-wells and clean the inside of the rim, as pictured below.

After some paint for the calipers, polish for the inside and outside of the wheel, chrome polish on the lug nuts, scrubbed and armor-all'ed wheel-wells
