DOOR PANEL
REMOVAL DIY_King's 2003 Honda Accord

DIFFICULTY LEVEL 1= Basic common sense, and patience.
(Hardest=5 Easiest=0)
TOTAL COST (not including speakers, dynamat, colored bulbs) =$0
TOOLS= Philips'-head screwdriver, and a knife, or some other thin hard object to do small amounts of prying.

First, remove the small plastic cover behind the door handle to reveal the two screws beneath it, and remove the screws using a philips head screwdriver (remember, don't push in too hard when taking them out and don't tighten them down too much so you don't strip out the plastic retainers the screws screw in to)

Second, remove them flimsy plastic piece that covers the bottom of the inside door handle, and remove that one screw with a philip's-head screwdriver (this screw goes into a metal peice that gives the door handle stability for when youu pull the door closed, no worries about stripping this hole)

Next pry out the door handle assembly, the part of the dooor handle closest to the rear of your car is the section that comes OUT LAST and when reassemblig it goes IN FIRST!! The top front and bottom of the door handle have clips or snaps to held secure it (since it is also screwed down, don't worry if you break a snap) Pry it out by inserting your hard thin object (pocket knife), in between the door panel and handle directly in the center of the front section. This method will depress the front-side snap and make prying it out easier.

Now that all the screws are out and the door handle is unsecured, insert your hard thin object in between the door panel and the door and slowly but surely pry the panel away from the door, these snaps are very easily removed and replaced and hard to break so worry about scratching your door, dont worry about breaking the snaps. I think there is about 8 of them going around the botton three sides of the door.

You are ready to disconnect the door panel courtesy light and power window controls. The light housing is simply removed by rotating it counterclockwise I think, very simple. The power window controls are connected by a clip that has a release on each side, just stick your hand in there and pinch the sides together (not just any two sides, the two with the clip) pull it off after you release the clip.

Now slip the door handle through the hole sideways (since you can't get the panel off with it still on the inside of the interior)

The door panel must be pulled up and over the door lock or you can unscrew the lock and take it off for less complications when you put the door panel back.

Congradulations, now you have your door panel off you can replace your door speakers, re-upholster the fabric, dynamat the inside of your door or paint the vinyl, put it back on the same way you took it off, remember how I told you to put the door handle back in, you have to put the panel back on starting with the seam by the window and then the door lock, then the power window control, then the door courtesy light (bulb size 194 i think). Make sure the metal support is under the armrest so the third screw is lined up properly, last thing is to slide the handle back through to the interior side and insert the back of the handle first, snap it in place, all the snaps around the edges shoul pop right back in with a little push, place the screws and Kazaam, your done.!!DIY_King's 2003 Honda Accord
