Committing Suicide!

I am going to suicide my hood, and thought i would create a how to with lots of pics so here you go:

the goal is to get the hood to open like this:

1.first thing you need to do is to get a hold of some hood mounts and hinges from a mid-80's buick le sabre. also Grab the stock bolts (4) and frame clip nuts (4) you can find these at most local junkyards for around 20 dollars.

Hinges (cut in the middle for shipping):

Stock Bolts and Frame Clip Nuts:

2.Youll have to cut 4 out of the cross bar that connects the new hinges, then weld it back together like it was stock. You can do this with a tubing cutter or a sawzall, but you cuts will not be as straight.

3. AutoZone sells "a" frame clip nuts (red pkg.) in the "HELP"isle. grab 2 pkgs of them. (part # 03954) approx. $8.00

Decided to do a test fit to get a general idea of where the hinges are going to be placed

4. Now you need to remove the 3 bolts that secure the fuse box and move it inward (toward the engine) 1 1/2 (until the outer hole lines up with the inner screw hole) replace the screw. (This will be the only screw holding the fuse box now). Mine is at a slant but its because my AEM intake is in the way along with my horn for my alarm.

5. Move to the pass. Side and remove the 3 screws that hold the e.c.u. And cut the inner and rear screw mounts off the tray that holds the e.c.u. Move the e.c.u. back 2 3/4 and self-tap a screw through the front mount tab into the radiator reservoir. (This will be the only screw that will hold your e.c.u. now)

You will probably run into this problem if you dont remove the black holding case that the cpu is in:

6. With your hood still on your truck, measure back from the hood/fender gap 17 & pencil mark it, then measure back another 5 and pencil another mark.

Now, from the first mark, measure in 2 and mark it, then measure in 3 from the rear mark and mark it. (These will be the hole locations for the hood hinge bolts)

7. Test fit with the hinges bolted up.
