n RX-7 handbrake lever drives the original Kawasaki foot brake master cylinder. The driveshaft is custom made, and there are driveshaft safety loops front and rear (rear shown).
The trunk lid is chrome moly tube frame with aluminum skin, supported by an RX-7 hatch strut. The aluminum fuel tank holds 7 gallons. Mufflers are 2005 vintage GSXR1000. Tail lights shown are temporary. Custom LED lights will be integrated into the body.
Side panels are stretched into place using bungees, then drilled and clamped with Clecos. Hood is two pieces of aluminum, bonded and riveted to a steel center piece. This is bolted to the stainless steel grille.
Hood panel after painting. Door skin is bonded and flush riveted.
Fabricating tail and turn lights. Housings made from PVC pipe fittings, lenses from some side marker lights. Bar-end type mirrors incorporate the front turn signal lights. Lights are fabbed using LEDs, 44 LEDs per light. Hub caps & steering wheel cap are black anodized and laser engraved.
Windshield trim and aluminum door frames are also anodized black. Rivet lines are covered by wood trim, which is maple, stained to match the teak dash and finished with marine varnish.
The Stiletto is now licensed, one of the first vehicles to be licensed under a new "Reverse Trike" category in Washington State, . It is licensed as a motorcycle, but can be driven with an automobile license. Helmets are optional because it has rollover protection. It drives, steers, handles and stops very well, but the driveshaft has some vibration, and I plan to incorporate some changes to the driveshaft this winter to damp the vibrations. Body roll is negligible, noise level is pretty low with the stock GSXR mufflers, seating is very comfortable. Weight with full fuel is 1100 pounds.
